I need a way to attach a buschur 3" exhaust (slip fit no flange). to a flanged DP.

I was thinking cut it to size and weld a flange on. But, I dont have a welder. Would JB weld be enough??
ICGerms
JB Weld is the shiz, but it would melt off in that particular application.

Can you just cut the flange off the down pipe and slip the buschur one over it with an exhaust clamp?

Either that or have Slopny weld a flange on the buschur piece for you.
Justincredible
I already tried to see if the buschur would slip fit in. It doesnt fit.

The only thing that I see that would suck about welding it on would be the size difference? I'm wondering if the exhaust is made longer and if the flange is there it wouldnt bolt up. guess I'll hafta try it and go from there.

They make an exhaust adhesive that is like jb weld that will take 1200 degrees. I'm thinking that if they overlap and you cut off the flange, you could cover it in that stuff and use an autozone exhaust clamp or 2 to tighten up the connection.

after some discussing with some friends concesus is, just cut off the flange and weld it all to one piece.

If it won't slip fit in, use a pipe expander on one of the two. Then the un-expanded one will slip inside.

The problem I foresee with a one piece weld job is that you won't ever be able to just drop the downpipe without removing your whole exhaust system.

I've thought about that. But, I really dont want to use an exhaust clamp at all. If it's slip fitted that tight I'd still hafta unclamp it and then work it free to get it loose.

Go to a muffler shop. They will probably charge you like $20. Or go to Slo-Pny. Why mess with the epoxy?

mostly cause I dont wanna drag it all over hell to get it done. I'm still trying to think of the best way to do it. Any got a welder and some free time and could just stop by my house to do it.

I could.

you're going to kick yourself in the nutsack if you weld the whole thing together though. that's going to make everything harder in the future. much harder.

your best bet is to buy a 3" flange, I'm assuming it's a 2 bolt and have it welded to the section that is slip fit. simple, easy, and you won't be permanently causing problems for yourself. I happen to know a person who has an extra 3" 2 bolt flange too, it's the de-tuner jr. (chris garner with the signature series body kit'ed red 1g) he's on dsm central, but I can't seem to recall his SN.

ahahah, I'd like to refrain from kicking myself in the nutsack. Is that possible??? LOL. anyways, Im run by AZ today and see if they have 3" flanges.

It's a VERY tight fit to get the nuts back on....I ended up having to ruin a socket (grinding it down).

(... 1 3" coupler for downpipe straight piece)

Good job on the exhaust. We've been doing the same thing (except have put a glasspack in there) and have found that a 2.5"-3" coupler works great for the downpipe...it's easier to get the nuts on, since there's a little more room with the 2.5" portion of the coupler where the downpipe meets the O2 housing. Just thought I'd share, in case anyone is planning on fabbing their own exhaust.

I Need someone to weld preferably this week. I've got the DP and the exhaust. I also need to double check that the buschur 3" has a cat delete already in it(swear I read that somewhere).

But anyways If you can weld and can make it to pekin before friday let me know. I havent decide if im gonna do a full weld together or a 3" flange. If I cant find a flange local the choice is made.
