16g evo3. what kind a hp can one expect for an average tuner?

I've seen 3 or 4 people put down 260-280whp on pump with that turbo. It seems to be nice for the price.

check with KOU, he told me recently that he could accquire new T3/T4's for 600 which is probably just as much as you would pay for that 16G. I wouldn't be afraid to say that you would easily clear 300 horse with one of those setups. Problem being paying for the supporting mods.

300 whp is well within the realm of possibility with a 16g on pump gas. You'll probably need a fmic and some fuel modifications to pull it off though.

Big 16g would get you going, but you kind of need an external gate. I ran a small 16g with only mild porting and clipped to 12.50@110 with a conquest FMIC. I swapped in a 14b when the 16g crapped out and ran 12.72@105. A 16g IMO is just stock replacement when a 14b goes if you don't want to buy a used one. Small 16g's are available for $465. 300 hp shouldn't be a problem.

There is a BR475 if you want to with the other supporting mods but it is pricy in comparison.

not shabby, but not quite what I want... 400-500whp and a lot of torque... though 300awhp would suffice I suppose.

If torque is what your wanting, build a 6 bolt 2.4. That 400whp will be matched with 450 ft/lbs or torque. Lots of fun if you want to break things smile.gif

The one guy on our 4g64 board is runnin a evo 16g on his spider and went 260whp/330 ftlbs of torque.

Try this for comparison of flow rates. It doesn't have any of the information about Buschur turbos but has lots of others. I can't be sure of how reliable this information is because I found it through a search engine but it seems to be legit.

The BR475 is designed as an alternative to the 20G. It comes on early around 3200 rpms. Supposedly it spools faster than a 20G. With the quick spool you sacrafice some top end power thus the BR475 name. The low end torque should be something else. So the spool is significantly faster than a BR500. THe power ratings are close but they are two different animals. The BR475 should be a lot of fun on the street as told to me by the guys in Ohio. biggrin.gif

I've still got my ported Big16g for sale, if you're interested. 'Bout 4000 miles on it, no shaft play or smoke. I'd like to get $400 for it.
