I've got a ported EVO O2 housing that I broke the stud off of when I was taking the exhaiust off. I drilled the old stud out for the most part. I was wondering if it would be better to have a new stud welded in or should I get a new housing? Its really annoyingly loud and I decided to finally take care of it so I need some opinions. Thanks!

can you extract the stud??

Extract the stud? it broke off flush with the housing and I drilled what was left out. Ive got the old stud out, i just need a new one welded in.

The old studs aren't welded in in the first place. They're just screwed in. If you don't have any threads left, why not just use a nut and bolt combo now?

I tried that. There isnt enough room on the other side of the housing. If i stick a bolt through there it only clears the outside lip of the housing by about 1\4 of an inch until it hits the housing straight above it and there is only about 1\8th of an inch between the side of the bold and the outter wall of the housing. So the bold only sticks out about 1\4 of an inch and theres no way I could get a nut to fit in that 1\4X1\8th gap and catch the threads on the bolt. I really would like to keep this housing. It looks quite nice and is ported.

Did you get my PM travis? lol. Thanks!

I'm using an EVO 02 housing and don't even have the right stud in there. Drill it out good and big, like 7/16 or so. Then get a 3/8 bolt and cut the head off. Put nuts on each end with locks and you'll be all set. That's now mine is with no leaking at all.

The Nut wont fit between the wall of the housing and the bolt. It wont work. Ive already tried it! smile.gif
