so im tryin to pull this 14b off so I can slap the 16g on there. But, I have one bolt that just REFUSES to budge. anyone got any ideas??? I guess I should add that it did turn for a bit then froze. now it turns without coming out. I think the housing stripped.

hell the stud came out easier than this one. the nut froze on the stud and came out easy.

Is it one of the ones that goes through the manifold and into the top of the turbo ? If so, mine did that. I sprayed everything with PB blaster, waited 10 minutes, sprayed it again. Then I turned it back in one turn, sprayed it again. After that it was hard but it came out. Those bolts suck.

nope thats the stud. came out with EASE compared to this lil bastard.

Like ncgalant said, it sounds one of the bolts that goes through the top of the manfold into the turbine housing, right? I'm pretty sure the two of you are talking about the same thing. ncgalant's suggestion sounds good to me. Get more torque on the wrench you're using with a piece of pipe if you need to. No big deal if the bolt breaks in the 14b housing, right? You can always buy a new bolt and it'll be easier to remove the broken piece of bolt when the turbo is out of the car. Sometimes bolts just have to break.

it wont break tho is the thing. it just turns like its trying to come out but wont come out. I think what im going to do is take off the manifold(coming out anyways) and just cut the bolt off and slide the turbo out.

That's what I like to hear. Break out the destructive tools! Sawzall, cut-off tool, sledge-hammer.

You should see what awd4kicks can do with a sledge. Its the only tool he needs. Give that man a car and a sledge and he'll tear it down and rebuild it for you in a day. He won't admit it, but I think he uses it to put pictures up also. biggrin.gif

ahhh screw it. Ima cut it off without taking the manifold off. I can tap the EGT gauge without taking it off. I've read that if you idle the car and work your way up in drill bits you dont have to take the manifold off. I think ima do that.
Justincredible
well 30 minutes of saw-z-all action and some sledge love the bolt came off. then a lil more sledge love and she was free from the manifold.

with only a couple more bent fins on the radiator were the downsides of a protuding object.

Hahaha...That's what I'm talkin about!!!

SWEET ASS. the lightened flywheel is on, act 2600 installed, tranny mounted back in its place. now its just buttoning up the loose ends and installing the turbo.

Flywheel, clutch, turbo. If shiny things under the hood don't make you smile I don't know what will biggrin.gif

naked chics with power tools?
JMoushon
Naked chicks with power tools on a boat fishing while theorizing about just HOW SWEET the new shiny parts will be when they are installed. Then I wake up and realize that I am broke and still running 19psi through a stock downpipe and a slipping clutch. Aint life grand...
