the dsm life that i have got myself into.....go down to the river in pekin....theres a couple cars goin over the bridge to race....i follow them....line up behind them, launch, everything seems fine.....get back down to the river and slow to a stop and all of a sudden.....DUH, DUH, DUH, DUH, DUH.....WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT....get out of the car and pop the hood and everything seems fine....start it back up and its very hard to get it into gear and it wont go into reverse, just grinds.....****....trans......finally get it into gear and try to take off and everything seems fine.....people have their camcorders out cause they think somethings gonna blow up....people are yellin to hole shot it.....so i get caught up in the moment and figure if my baby's gonna break she's goin out like a champ.....6k rpm launch.....everything seems fine....WHAT THE HELL? start to slow down....DUH,DUH,DUH.....alright....get on the ground and twist the driveshaft back and forth and it doesnt sound right....way to much noise....so im guessin i toasted the transfer case....not to mention that the trans is about gone....what to do now.....

im not sure that it would be the diff cause i have a bj'scylinderhead.com 4 spider gear diff although im not sure how strong those are.....

anything in particular i need to know before gettin under the car and checkin it out? cause this will be my first time underneath a dsm....

still havent looked at it.....had to go out and buy jack stands....any idea on how much it would cost to mildly build up a tranny....like a longer first gear ratio, double synchro 2nd, and stronger shift forks?

Depends on who you go to. I know SloPny is pretty cheap and reliable from what I hear but I'm not sure about modifications. I'm sure they could swing something with you though. www.shepracing.com is John Sheperd's site that has a whole list of modifications but he's a little more expensive.

You can buy stronger parts from www.teamrip.com and have Slopny install them for you. That's probably the cheapest route to take.
