I write this with the best intentions, only time will tell if it is taken in the way it is meant to be. A lot of people post kill stories. Particularly Spy. If you read his last kill, he waxed eloquently of his pursuit and conquer of a certain Honda hatch. In California or Texas or something. This is both entertaining and smart. Smart in that it gives nothing away, and could be perceived as fiction. We may know better, we may not, but the point is that Spy maintains a modicum of plausible deniability, as do the rest of us who read it. On the other hand, let me talk about idiocy. Idiocy is:
When you post kills that took place at or near popular and consistent gathering spots.
When you describe the other person's car, and who they were with (other cars).
When you disclose exact location and time.
Worst: When you randomly post challenges involving time and place OTHER than a legal race venue.
I am personally guilty of posting a kill or two, though it does take a pretty pathetic car to be killed by the fwd.

I understand this, so don't try to throw my words at me.
I recently had a conversation with a member of local law enforcement, a person who is a die-hard car enthusiast and fellow racer. And a cop. IF ANYONE BELIEVES FOR ONE SECOND THAT THE COPS DO NOT BROWSE THIS BOARD, YOU ARE WRONG. SAME FOR CII. Do not schedule races here. It sounds like a BS conspiracy theory, but think of the sheer # of cars now street racing, compared to a few years ago, and think of how the city and county view our habits/hobbies/addictions.
I posted this in an effort to keep people out of trouble, and the officer that brought this to me did so in order to keep me out of the same trouble. Please consider what I wrote, and if you feel some compulsive need to talk shit and include locations (SWKR)

, don't over-disclose.

This is exactly the reason we're so strict about this over at CII.

Benny: I'm glad you saw this. If you want to relay to your board, that would be great. I'm not very well known on CII, probably not much credibilty. Besides, who has time to post actual kills on CII? Isn't everyone too preoccupied with 90210 drama?

I personally cant say that I would qualify myself as a street racer. I'm not going to say that I havnt and that I wont run my car to slightly over the speed limit when there is a mustang or similarly intimidating car next to me. But at the same time I cant say that Ive ever gone looking for a street race nor have I ever instigated a street race. There have been plenty of times that people have tried to race me on and off of the highway and I just shrug it off. My rules are simple for this subject. If I dont feel safe doing it then I dont do it and I very rarely find myself feeling safe while street racing. I dont know call me a wimp, but I find racing in autocross to be 10X more exciting because I feel that I can concentrate more on racing and less on being cautious because it takes place in a controlled environment that is set up for the current circumstances as well as it can be. Just my .02.

I actuall posted this as a "word to the wise." The officer(s) I spoke with told me to get the word out as much as possible. I was also told that undercovers will be at popular cruise spots in rather non-descript vehicles. I don't want this to sound like "big brother is watching" type stuff, but the police are putting a lot more effort into the car scene than they have in recent years, and I don't want to see anyone get busted. Post this anywhere you like, as long as people will pay attention.

and how can the website be held accountable?

is it just me, or are there a few people on here now that it seems like all they want to do is contradict and argue? It was kinda funny at first.....but now it is so predictible that I almost avoid reading threads that I can see they've posted in. Maybe I just need to relax about it, but it is rather annoying.

and awd4me....not everything that people post is centered around you..... unless you are the only memeber of swkr

I myself am guilty of what James is warning against and appreciate him posting what he did.....not that I can get going too awful fast or anything, but when I start feeling like getting a little stupid in my car this post will be in the back of my mind keeping me in check

awd4me: I was not necessarily referring to you, or to this board. The website cannot be held accountable in any way. However, if you post, for example: "I smoked this Camaro on X road," you can rest assured that X road will be more highly patrolled. The local constabulary could not care less about the site, they only want race venues and the like. The only reason I specifically referenced SWKR is that, I believe you'll agree, you and yours throw quite a bit of sh** around, I would guess an amount slightly above the norm. Not complaining, merely giving a heads-up.

Because if the people you talk with about it with know where "the river" is then so do the cops. Meaning that they show up there more often. Meaning that said spot stops existing for the rest of us as a comfortable cruise spot.
In general, a few fun spots (wherever they may be from town to town) get left alone as long as things manage to fly beneath the radar. Push them in the authorites faces and they more or less have to do something about it.'
I look at it this way: If I'm a cop and it's a boring shift with nothing happening, I'm headed over to where there MIGHT be something happening according to recent rumors. Hopefully that helps explain it a bit.
Personally I wouldn't know, I'm not from anywhere near here, my cars can barely make it up to highway speeds, and KOUmotorsports would never condone anything illegal like a contest of speed on a public road.

I really hope the cops have more important things to do than research where dumbasses hang out and pull stupid stunts with their cars. If they have to actually read internet sites to find out where people do burnouts in empty parking lots or set up races then I've really underestimated the ability of modern law enforcement.
Instead of trying to bust the balls of decent people, why don't they truly save lives and improve society by devoting their time to worthwhile activities like helping the elderly, indigent, and sick. Maybe, rather than ticketing a kid for driving 30 over the limit on a deserted highway, why not try doing real work like cracking down on whores, crack dealers, or god-forbid, camping out at a bar and nabbing the fall-down drunk bastard before he manages to get on the road and earn himself a DUI.
Message to cops, drunk drivers are far more dangerous than street racers.

people have hung out at the river longer than i've been alive....the cops got the idea of what goes on down there, their not stupid...but when there is a race, eeverybody drives over the bridge to an undisclosed spot, which would then be in peoria county, instead of pekin....i think that might be one reason why they really dont care that much.....and sometimes they stop down and talk about cars with us....

Well then you STAY AT THE RIVER and don't go racing anywhere else! Other people may enjoy each others company at other places, and they don't need you coming down there, and then posting about it on a public message board the next day.

Did you even bother to read the 1st post of this thread?
I wouldn't be surprised to see some Peoria unmarkeds waiting on the other side of the Pekin bridge now to follow and nail.
Let me tell you a little story about something that happened about 2 years ago. We had an enormous get-together at the old Sears parking lot in downtown Peoria (I can name this place because no one gathers there anymore). Bigger than anything I've ever seen at the at any other location of gathering. People from Peoria, B/N, C/U, and Springfield showed up. Word must have gotten around pretty good. The internet'll do that. After so many cars showed up we headed out to an "undisclosed location" in Peoria. Well apparently it wasn't so undisclosed. About halfway there some of us (the well communicated) got word that an unmarked had made its way into our 'pack'. It was impossible to let everyone know what was up so those that got word just kept on going past the "undisclosed location". Those that continued on to it ran into a road block right by the "undisclosed location" (by pure chance I'm sure) and almost all of them got tickets for exhaust, window tinting, wreckless driving, etc. Hmm...I wonder how the cops found out about our get-together and "undisclosed location"?
Moral of the story. If you want to race on the street, that's fine. Like the first post of this thread said,
Just don't announce it on the internet! Use private measures such as PM, email, phone calls, or word of mouth. Its that simple. If you must post it on the boards to keep up some kind of image or whatever, make it completely anonymous and only disclose locations through the previously mentioned mediums.
