Keep it! I do ALOT of walking. Probably 2 miles a day or more. My car has been sitting for 3 or 4 weeks now, but its OK cause I love it and walking is good for me.

Just stop messing with it for a month or so, buy a cheapass Honda or something and drive it around. Saving up money isn't that hard if you quit driving and working on the DSM all the time. Thats what I did, and thats how I stayed happy.

Let me know your bottom dollar, and I'll talk to him and see how serious they are...
my asking price is pretty much the selling price. Ive got much more time and money interested in her. They wouldnt be starting off. hell the power department is damn near topped out.

Umm aren't you running a 16G there still? There's definately some room to grow in the power department there although it's a nice start to upping the power.
Unfortunately I think you're running into the problem that most car enthusiasts run into. It's VERY hard to get back anywhere near what you have in a project car.
One thought that might help a bit. Get a timeslip and then sell it on E-bay with proof of a xx.xx time car.
That or the next step to getting your money out of a modified car is normally to return it to stock, sell the upgrades off separately and then sell the now stock car at a cheaper price.
Just my $0.02

what I meant was is I could easily run a bigger turbo with the mods I have.
yeah. I know what ya mean but I'm not selling it for much more than what stock ones go for. and quite a bit less than what I have in it. I kinda picked a middle ground and went.
I thought maybe a timeslip would help also. they go for more around here than on e-bay tho.
I could return it to stock too. but that takes more work. and reverse work at that.

Jun 11 2004, 12:36 PM
I feel your pain on the reverse work. Just trying to point out a route to maximize your sale is all. Another downside there is that you're pretty much committed to the sale then after you go down that road.
I think we're all hoping you give up on selling it and keep her actually.

I have to agree strongly with KOU on this one. The market for modified cars is a tough one. Deals abound with guys dumping cars just trying to get thier wives off their back. Heck, a few weeks ago I spotted a setup similar to yours going for $2500 on the trader!! Keep in mind also that I bought that car 6mos ago in stock form with a bad tranny for $1400...
You've built yourself a kick ass car there Mr. incredible... if you really have to get the money out of it, your best bet is going to be taking her back to stock and sellign the mods separate. Takes a little more time, but the money seems to roll in pretty steady and can help relieve the pressure of bills for the moment.
I've been in your shoes, definately a tough position. Good luck with the sale!

just checked it out and your right, it does look nice doesn't it.... how bout I just buy the elbow from you, I am sure that stock exhaust is orth nothin but a high flow cat is a good investment for a guy with OBD II and a muffler can be used by anyone.... Justin, I think your biggest problem isn't the car or the advertizing (I've seen your ads in the Trader and Tradin Post), it's your price...
Take a look around at the cars for sale on both this board, CII, and even the Trader... you've got Mark's car with all the mods that someone could pick up for $3200, A FWD with a built motor (worth $1500 even if you had to do the work yourself) and lots of mods for $4500 (or less), Adam's broken (but modded) AWD that just went for $2000 (or less knowing spy), not to mention the 92 VR4 that was posted on CII for $4000, or the multitude of cars on the Trader for $1500-3000 that are in similar condition with similar mods to your car.
My point is this... If you are really desperate to sell the car quickly, you're probably going to have to get a little more relistic with the price bud. If I was in the market for a DSM, honestly your's would probably be the last one I'd look at locally, just becasue of the price. You've got to keep in mind that when people like Spy posts a car for sale, he's usually willing to wait it out until he get's what he wants for it, mainly because he's got 4 more just like it sitting around.
Look, I'm not trying to be an a$$, I'm honestly trying to help you sell this thing. I loved that car, even for the short time that I had it. I really want to see it go to a good home. Sorry for the book, and Good Luck with the sale...
