Well Ive got myself an SAFC II but I dont know much about them. The install looks easy as pie, but my question is if I can hook it up then run the stock A\F ratios until I can get it tuned? Or do I have to put some sort of values in there to make it run right? TIA guys!

I'm pretty sure you can install it and run 0% correction across the RPM range and it will run like its not even there.
ncgalant
Yes, leave it at 0 until you can tune it. Zero is no compensation and will make it strait through.

Awesome! Thats what I figured, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Thanks guys!

I read somewhere that you have to set it to a 2cyl for DSM's because they have 2 cyls per coil? Is this correct? Thanks again guys!

no, go with 4. It works fine running off of the tach signal. Also make sure you set the sensor type to karman. Like 90% of people forget to do that and wonder why it doesn't work.

I set it to Karman and set it to 4cyl. But when I come to the setting the knocking signal step I get nothing. It says to rev the car to a certain RPM (1300 then 3200) and push the center knob the the right to correct the knock for each RPM level. I push the knob to the right an nothing happens. Also when I go to the monitor- 1 chanel- REV and push on the gas I get no RPM reading at all. Does this mean I'm not reading any RPM's?? I'm assming this may be hy I cant set the knock.

the knock doesn't work on DSM knock sensors. Or so I've been told.

It doesnt work on an ODBII(95.5-up) car, but ODBI it does. I just went through the wiring diagram and compared Apexi's to the one on the VFAQ. Apexi has the RPM wire labled wrong. Apexi has it labled as pin #54 (Power transistor for #1 and #4 coils) when it should be labled pin #21 (crank angle senson (RPM.)) Just for future reference!

thanks for the info. I guess that's why you were thinking it had to be on 2 cyl.

Troy. What pinout did you tap your RPM (green wire on SAFC II) into on the ECU? I tried the one that APEXI said to use and the one that the wiring diagram said was the RPM signal and I get nothing!! I cant do anything without RPM signals. I got it used so I hope that I didnt get ripped. Thanks guys!

Well this is going to sound dumb, but I took the sheathe off of the SAFC II harness and the RPM signal wire was cut in half. I patched it up and hooked it back to the wire that APEXi said to use, but now I only get half of the RPMs that my tach reads. Should I set it to 2cyl or just hook it back to the actual CAS (RPM) wire? Thanks again guys!
