I just read an article in the May 24 AutoWeek about a new version of the Evo that will be available in Britain only. It's called the Evo FQ-330, where the F stands for any adjective that you want to use that starts with F, Q stands for Quick, and 330 is the amount of HP. It's also got 305 lb-ft of torque and costs about $57K. It comes with a full warranty and apparently the only mods are "an aggressively programmed supplementary ECU, plus a revised wastegate actuator, which raises peak boost to 21psi". So, I wonder if the US spec Evo's would also safely and reliably be able to handle 21psi and 330HP with only these mods; i.e. no broken trannies, etc.
They are also supposed to be working on a FQ-340.

They started that on the Evo 7 with the FQ-300. I never really understood what the big deal was though. For what they want you to pay for those few extra ponies, you could get a lot more from out of aftermarket parts from buschur, pruven, or hell even vishnu.
