Well, I have optimistacally tracked down and checked every other possibilty for noise in my latest 2.0 junkyard motor. To no avail...Number one cylinder has spun the rod bearing with one race and about 50 miles in my car.
Let me digress for a moment...
I burnt a piston last year sometime around July at Cordova's midnight mayhem
I decided to build a 2.4 stroker for the 1st annual SCDC in September 2003
On the way to SCDC my cylinder head gasket gave up and warped my head
Cylinder head was repaired night before Vicory day...rod bearings failed right then
Twice during this past winter I ordered 2.4 blocks in only to find bad cranks
This past month I purchased and installed a used 2.0 engine with my BR500
Within a day my BR500 fails and blows about 6 qts of oil through the exhaust
Next few days I install my old 14b with many headaches, but I get one good race
That same evening my engine starts making knocking noises
I track down every other possible cause for the next few days...
Then tonight I find a spun rod bearing on my used 2.0 that was meant for SCDC2
So I think the facts speak for themselves...
I will need some time to decide what to do with my trashed BR500 and lack of a descent engine all wrapped into a beautifully preserved 1992 Talon body.
In retrospect I think that prayer I made at cordova last year for 'just one good run and then I would concentrate more on God and family' has been butting heads with me ever since. God came through with three incredible 12.6 passes out of a car that had never run better than low 13's previously, however I have yet to fulfill my responsibility.
I don't think Gods out to get me, but he sure isn't making any of this easier or letting me skate by with any lucky breaks in regards to my Talon. Don't get me wrong, I know this sounds crazy and I think I'm due considering the circumstances.
Don't worry I will definitely make it to the Sport Compact Drag Challenge, but I will not be able to compete once again.
Whew...thanks for the vent peeps!
