Just recently, the State of Illinois allowed me to take my liscense back from them. To the day I've had it for exactly a week since my suspension expired and I've been craving some decent action. So far I've been Joe Schmo the careful defensive driver but tonight I'd had enough of that. The time had come to taint that fresh liscense and quench that thirst of mine. Tonight, while driving home, I pulled up to a fresh red and a brand new Nissan Skyline pulls aside. The man looked to be in his mid to late thirties and on his way home from a late night at the office. The light turned and he stomped the accelerator making the poor Skyline lurch forward like a steed that had just been kicked in the flanks. I thought nothing of it and continued on my way to the next light ahead. As I approach this second light I notice the same Skyline sitting there waiting for the light. As I approached the light the man repeated the same procedure as the first light and this is where I went wrong. I decided to play with my new friend and enjoy my departure from the city. I gave 3/4 throttle rolling through the light and he persued. I continued in the gas until I approached the speed limit and backed off as I let him slide by. The business man did a flyby letting me know that he was proud of his "victory" over my TT Toyota Supra. I (for whatever reason) could not let this one be. Pulling up to the next, and final, red the Skyline stopped short of the line about five feet. I think he felt sorry for me and tried to give me a head start....who knows. Anyhow, the stage was set and not only was I demanding to get some respect from this pathetic foe but I was ready for a good run again. The traffic signal went about it's duties, oblivious of what was about to happen. It gave us the right of way and both cars departed from the intersection. The Skyline kept right with me the entire drive, both of us screaming through the night as if we were driving Ferraris. Right up to the 60 mark I slowly paced away from him as if I were casually strolling by a friend on the sidewalk. After I gained a car length on the business man he backed off, acknowledging his defeat and then a block later turned onto a side street leading to some of the most wealthy homes in the area. I continued on, pushing on to the homestead, feeling good about breaking in my freshly reclaimed liscense and having a story to tell instead of having to hear about battles between a blazer and a Nissan pickup lol jk! tongue.gif
