I have a recently acquired 92 Talon AWD Talon TSi that all it needed was a tranny and it was ready to roll. I purchased the tranny that will be going in but I thought I would post here to see if someone is itnerested in buying this or maybe buying parts off of this. The reason I am considering parting it out is because there is the potential to make more off of parting it out considering it is an AWD Auto.

The car just passed the 100k mark. It is running perfect right now, and actually is fully driveable in reverse, just foreward it has some issues. The turbo has no shaft play and doesnt smoke even on start up. Since it is an auto the turbo wouldnt probably go for much, but I figure the 6 bolt motor would sell for pretty decent considering it doesnt have any issues. I will do a compression test soon just to be certain. The car is in good overall shape with most of the body panels being straight, and I know the car has the 4 bolt rear-end. If anyone else is also interested I have a good conditioned AWD auto tranny that I purchased to install

Lastly, say I put the car together what do you think it would sell for? From what I can see the car really has no problems minus the usual aging that goes on with a 12 year old car. It is the silver metallic color-almost platinum. I suppose I should post some pics once I take them

Any mods? Condition of the body? Interior?

From what I've seen, they typically go for $1000-$1500 less than a comperable 5spd. Depends a lot on condition, and who you're trying to sell it to (Joe Citizen would value it higher than a DSM enthusist typically).

Always had a soft spot for the autos.... ph34r.gif

Just a side note, the 4 bolt rear end can only be used in auto tranny cars due to the difference in gear ratios from the manual trannys. Anyway, I think you could get about $1500 out of it as long as it's a straight car, which from what it sounds like it should be.

No mods, its completely stock!!

The person I got the car off of was not a "car" person either so I have no reason to believe the car was abused.

I am sure I could sell my auto tranny for more than enough to pick up a 5 speed tranny, how much effort is involved in doing the 5 speed swap?
AWD DSM 1
Simply put... A LOT. Shifter, clutch system, rear end, tranny transfercase, ECU all have to be swapped. Not as cheap or easy as it sounds at first. Rear axle alone would cost $400, and the auto parts would most likely not be worth much when you're done.... not a huge market for them...

Alright

Sounds like its almost too much of a pain to do THAT swap. Do you guys think it would be better to part it out or just fix it and sell it
turbohcar
Fix and sell. The only things I can think of that would be in high demand would be the motor and interior (if it's in good condition).

If it goes to parts I'd be interested in bumper, hood and side moldings. Also, I hope you beat the rain back. -Drew

I dont need the AWD Auto tranny. I already bought one, its just sitting in the truck of the car right now waiting to go in, but I figure I'd ask around before I put the time and effort into installing the tranny

Drew

I barely beat it back. While I was on main street heading towards 74 right by fast lane customs the wind picked up real bad and shit was flying across the road in front of me. I dont know if it was hard rain hitting me or hail but it hurt like a mofo. I drove for like 30 seconds like that and stopped under the I74 bridge just before I needed to turn off. I slipped my helmet on cuz i didnt feel like getting pelted in the face anymore with crap, and then I hopped on 74 and rolled about 100mph until i got out in front of the storm biggthumpup.gif

Out of sheer curiosity at this point, how much would you sell it for as it sits?
resalturbo
how much would you let the fenders go for??

Now that I think about it I do need a 92 style hood pretty bad. Keep us updated on your decision.

Probably a slim chance I will sell it as it sits now, because the whole reason of buying the car was to fix it and sell it for profit-which likely wouldnt happen if i just sold it right now. Feel free to PM me with an offer however if you are truly interested
