The wait is almost over. At 7:46pm, the GS-T breathed for the first time since receiving a complete bottom-end overhaul. At the shop (Saturn of Peoria), she has been parked outside of my rack for three weeks, and 18 hours worth of work later, she fired up on the third kick. Freaked me out for a second, as soon as I started her, she was knocking to beat hell. Alas, as soon as oil pressure built, the knock was gone and she settled in to a nice rich idle, with 550s, a Walbro 255, and NO AFC. You can practically see the fuel dripping out of the exhaust. I gotta drive 500 or so easy miles, and tune the S-AFC, but we're "over the hump" so to speak. More updates to come, as soon as I can really drive the car. I took two laps around the lot and tucked her in the shop...

Don't forget to go out and seat the rings and change the oil right away after that. Did you use non-detergent oil? Putting a load on the engine and seating the rings (breaking the motor in) is about the most important thing to do from my reading and experience. Maybe the DSM's are different though. I'd also do it with no boost for 500 miles.

Ranta: Straight Mobil (not Mobil 1) 10w-30. Did one oil change after 50 miles, will do one more at 500. Most boost it has seen is 5 psi, except for an emergency on the way home from the shop that required about 12 (I watched carefully, no blue smoke, just black).
The AFC is making the whole "idle" thing a bit difficult, with the combo of a 255 fuel pump and the stock regulator it is next to impossible to get repeatably reliable settings. For some reason, the AFC has to be set @ +25 at the 1K point in order to keep running on idle-down from regular driving (i.e. coming to a stop).
Perhaps it has something to do with the gutting of almost every vacuum line in the engine bay... We'll see soon enough. Big congrats, Ben.
