Not so sure about the threadlocker. Seems like a bad idea. You could fab up some kind of secondary bracketry that keeps it from rotating. Or use rtv on the gasket. I know you love the rtv.

The thread locker would be applied to the collar that threads into the oilpump housing, not on the threads that the filter enterfaces with. This would help to keep the collar, inside the oil pump housing.

I actually like to eat small amounts of rtv blue.

This is what I did to keep mine from coming loose. Just make sure you torque it down pretty good even w/ threadlocker. But also be careful not to torque it so hard that the coolant vanes are crushed in the oil cooler.

As far as some extra crankcase ventilation. Barbing that balance shaft plug in the back of the block seems to be working well for me and not spitting up any oil yet anyway. I'm still working on the next level of crankcase ventilation. wink.gif

barbing the bs plug? WTF is that ?

I put a 90 deg hose barb in the hole in the back of the block that is usually plugged and ran a hose up to a breather filter at the top of the engine on the firewall. The real reason the hole is there is to allow a screwdriver or whatever to be inserted to stop the bs from rotating (if you still have one) when loosening and tightening the oil pump nut. Since I don't have a balance shaft there, it seemed to be a good place for some extra crankcase ventilation.

Ah yes, the good ol' barnyard barter system. Haven't seen a solid example since early June... Sheep, I believe it was... Call me if you end up tuning this fine eve.

Nate, are you busy this evening? I have some oil crank case pressure Issues that I would liek to address, have any of those laying around?

Secondly, I wouldnt mind a hand tuning my car in, if thats something that may intice you, Ill pay you in US dollars or barn yard animal interaction?

I'd like to, but I have to go up to Toluca this evening to hang out with the in-laws at a festival up there. If I'm home at a semi-decent time I'll contact you.

Not sure what I may have laying around? If you are talking about stuff to vent from the bs plug all you need is a hose barb to screw into the back of the block, some vacuum hose and a breather filter. You'll have to die the barb to 10mm x 1.25mm to match the block threads. Got my barb from Ace, but any hardware store should have them.
