I'm looking for a cheap datalogging setup. I was told by a reputable source that Best Buy may carry a Palm for around 50 bucks that meets the minimum requirements to run the datalogging software. I think the minimum hardware to run it is something like Palm OS 3.0...something like that.

If anyone has a datalogger they'd sell cheap I'd be interested in that as well. Thanks

Well, you can get a Palm M100 but i heard people donmt' like it, others say they love it. I have a Palm IIIe and i love it. If anything, get a cheap palm then get on www.pocketlogger.com 's site and buy their stuff. They are so friendly, and awesome to work with. fast shipping and all. your lookin at about $150-$200 when u get done dependiong on the logger.

Mainly, I'm asking where to get the cheapest Palm unit. Pocketlogger.com runs the cable and software for $125. Is there any place else that offers this setup any cheaper? How about the Palms? Where are those Palm Pilots running Palm OS 3.0 in the $50 range?

wink.gif and those work fine. buy from pocketlogger, they are a little pricey, but once you have it, you don't regret it. I didn't want to spend 125 either, but its worth it.

I went with the cable software combo off ebay, bought for 20 bucks. It works fine for me, but im sure its not exactly legal. But 20 bucks is better than 125 if your on a budget.

PS i also bought a palm m105 off ebay for 35 bucks, same as the m100 but has backlighting so you can see at night.

...also bought a palm m105 off ebay for 35 bucks...

The only thing that I didn't like about the m105 that I had for datalogging was that the batteries constantly needed changed, and then I usually had to reload the datalogging program onto the Palm. I've got a Palm Ve now, and it's much nicer to simply recharge it when needed. My $0.02

I tried buying off of eBay once before. I bought a cable and software for a laptop that I had and tried to load it up. The software was missing a .DLL file and wouldn't let me run it. Simply enough, I tried downloading from the tunerstein site and it wouldn't let me do that either because I had to have permission from the site administrators. Finally, I gave up on the laptop deal and I've been laying eyes on a palm setup instead. Besides, the palms have a longer battery life than that ancient piece of junk and it seems to me that the palm setup is more reliable because more people are running it instead. I just want something that works!!! Arrrrgggh!

BTW ICGerms where and how much did you pay for your Palm VE?
