Full Version: supra vs walboro 255hp

I currently have a supra fuel pump. I am underneath the impression that the supra fuel pump actually out flows the walboro255hp, at lower psi settings, while somewhere around 30psi boost the walboro255hp starts to out flow the supra.

is this information correct?

also, would the supra be large enough to support a large turbo, such as the fp30's?

if not, what would be recommended?

Their numbers show the supra outflowing the walboro all the way through.

i'm not really sure about the supra fuel pump. i know buschur recomends a cozmo fuel pump for anything bigger than a 20g @ 18psi or more, which the cozmo is 304lph @ 43psi vs. the walbro 255lph @43psi. i think the supra is a cheap upgrade like the 3000gt vr4 fuel pump.

BUT..... i could be talking out of my pooper again!! unsure.gif

The Walbro only outflows the Supra pump at 80psi+, and neither pump is very useful at that pressure.

A rewired Supra pump will take 4 720cc injectors to 30psi of boost assuming an adjustable regulator set at 43psi with a fair amount of headroom.

Actually Supra pumps tend to fetch a fair premium over the Walboro in terms of price (new for ~$200 last I checked). I think flow is rated at around 310lph or so. The comparison I remember reading had the Walboro catching up at extremely high pressures.

The Supra pump tends to have less fuel pressure issues and doesn't outright requite an AFPR like the 255 does. But, most will still reccomend an AFPR for careful tuning anyways.

Overall, I think they're better pumps than the Walboro 255, IMHO.

once again thanks for all of the help and for clearing up my information for me...

so correct me if i'm wrong.. but you are saying I should be good to run relatively deep into a fp30 turbo, before i would need to go cozmo? <my supra fuel pump is re-wired>

and also, is there a prefrence anyone has for fuel pressure regulators? I know that buschur sells a kit with a gauge? money's no issue, is it really worth it for the kit with the gauge?

Well, I'd like to hook up a gauge to test it out, but with the stock injectors, I haven't noticed any idle or ostensible rich fuel issues by just dropping in the Supra pump.

I'd like to verify it with a gauge and AFPR though before standing too firmly on that point though.

I look at it this way, they either both need one, or both don't. If anything the Supra pump would need it more than the Walbro, since the Supra pump flows more at lower pressures.

Kidding there. You're right. It's a supporting mod that a lot of people like to try to skip and seem to be kicking themselves later for holding out on it.

forget about money... is there a fpr that anyone recommends as the best? and are the kits with the gauges worth it?

I have been holding out on the FPR with my Walbro 255 installed, looks like I will haave to continue to hold out, as I will not even be in the country for over a year

from what i've seen and heard some cars get away with out, some cars don't...

imo, it's something that should be done....
