Ok so I finally got the car I was talking about in Chicago. When I got up there I was hoping I could still tow it on the rear wheels with the rear axels out. But the driver rear tire was so off this was not an option. What I ended up doing was disconnecting the rear axels and towing it on the front wheels. About every 35 or 40 miles I would pull over and toss in some gear lube in the rear diff. I know I should have just got the flat bed but this was the only option I had in getting it down here. Is there anything I should look out for before I get started on her? after checking out the car it was well worth it! this car makes my last 3 DSM's look like something in a junkyard (which is probably where at least 2 of the 3 belonged in the first place)

With the front wheels on the ground you'd need to disonnect the front half-shafts in order to keep the transmission disconnected from the spinning wheels.

But Spy is most likely right. Center diff should be toast now.

Nothing to keep you from firing it up engine wise. Be careful though when you try to put it under power to see what the tranny is up to.

Not sure what all should have happened to the rear diff though with the different speeds (did you disconnect the driveshaft?).

No, couldn’t get it set up. The whole tranny was toast before I got it, you can hear poopy grinding while in neutral and the clutch engaged. I’m not sure what method of thinking I was in. But I figured whatever I broke I can exchange with my 92 awd,The driveline on it is in excellent shape. I drove it about 10 feet up my drive. I will be dropping my engine and tranny in the 94 when I get a cheap DD. Is the vce a good idea for a daily driver?

There should be some old threads around here on the subject. AWD4kicks can give you the most informed answer as well there as he's driven on one for several months.

Basicly, you will noticed some tight turn slow speed differences. Possible increased wear on the output (?) shaft I believe. Overall though not a big deal IMHO for a DD.

I'd do it in your shoes.

Oh, and given that you can swap the entire drivetrain from your current car you should be fine.
