Vicary is putting on a special import only day? when is this supposed to take place? Or is this just going to be a sub-event of the normal Vicary day?

Nice.

I will accept cash or money orders only..... J/K

I'm in.
ranta18
This is something going on along with the normal V-Day. I will hold the money and have the rules ready.

Being the poorest of the bunch (I promise), I am hesitant to wager $100, but if I have it, I'm in.

Might be interested but I'd want a third party to hold the cash. Maybe we could see if Marcus would be willing to be the bagman?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I have a side bet on this part too? Just that you're NOT the fastest import as you are promising to be.

masterhonduhbuilder in other thread "ITS WINTER! No tracks around here are open for one."

Actually I believe Morocco is open weather permitting year round. I know there's been a New Year's day event in the past as well in the area at a track.

Here's the deal. This is a friendly wager between us guys. There is no affiliation between this and and Eric or V-DAY. We're just doing it on the same day. We're not stealing any of the spot light. This isn't an advertised event outside of here or Cii. Everyone is invited. I will hold the money that day and post up the official rules and regulations as it gets closer. Its fairly self explanitory though. Darryll Hudson is invited also incase you guys were wondering.

count me out. my street car isn't cut out for these type of all inclusive rules.

I'll still take masterhonduhbuilder's money on our side bet though so don't think you're getting out of that little wager so easily, Soreass.

R anta 18:
...if you're not running in the 10's by then, you might want to just sit in the stands and watch.

I appreciate your trust in me Travis, but I will not be a third party this year anyway. I'm going for the hot seat as long as Mike's set of rules don't exclude my true full weight street car with-out rollcage. biggthumpup.gif
ranta18
Usually they have weight minimums, not maximums, so I think you'll be ok. And as long as you don't run quicker than a 11.99 without at least a 6pt cage, then you should be fine also.
AWD DSM 1
Hell, I'll be the money holder if you want... I've got about the same chances as a snowball in hell to even have a car to race... plus you all know you can catch me if I try to run with the $$... laugh.gif laugh.gif

Maybe I can go for the slowest car award at the DSMCentral day... Does a 4cyl Grand Am count as a sport compact? biggrin.gif
awd4kicks
Hey...you said if we're not running 10's then not to waste our gas. So even if I getted kicked out of the track for not having a cage I could still have the FTD. That should qualify me for the pot, correct?
ranta18
You're a smart guy and I know you know what I ment. No need to be a smarta$$. Your car must be legal according to the NHRA Sport Compact or NDRA rules. If you run the fastest time of the day, but are not legal, then it doesn't count. If you don't like the rules, too bad, don't enter then.

Hahaha! I'm sorry, but that's absolute bullshit. That pretty much excludes any dsm that has a chance at running 11's, but doesn't have a rollcage. rolleyes.gif I have a rollcage and I still think the rules for this silly unofficial side challenge are retarded. Nothing personal, but I'll have no part in it just because the rules are being made to favor certain cars (ie. NDRA & NHRA rules). DSM's get enough of this non-level playing field bs in the official drag races. We shouldn't have to worry about it when putting our own money on the line in a side-bet.
awd4kicks
No problem...I wont enter then because there will be no cage in my car at that point. Runs will be made competatively anyway.

Fastest ET wins the money. Sorry I didn't state that from the begining. This allows the car to get the best run of the day and not lose due to breaking an axle or something later on.

So, why exclude a non-caged car then? If fastest ET wins the day then fastest ET should win.

Seems like you are picking and choosing your rules here. If this is truly NHRA rules as you seem to suggest, than breakage would disqualify people as well.

So, if Marcus runs a 12.00 with no cage, his time counts. But if he racks up say a 12.5 and then an 11.5 and is ejected for no cage, you'll only count his 12.5?!

Seems fishy with more rules waiting to be divulged later. I thought we normally ran more 'gentlemen's bets' with friendly competition for the pot on here.

Sounds like there is some real interest in making this happen. How about rethinking some of these oddball guidelines?
ranta18
Nate - The rules are there to make everything fair and safe. I don't see why you are thinking its unfair towards DSM's. Any car running 11's should have a roll cage period. Its for the safety of the driver. I don't care how good you think you are, accidents happen and the NDRA and NHRA made their rules for a reason and I think they are something we can use as a baseline.

I updated the rules on the first post. Here they are again:
RULES:
$100 to enter.
Fastest ET of the day wins all the money.
Imports only.
Anything allowed as long as it falls in the NHRA Sport Compact or NDRA rules and fall into one of the classes (you must say which). See their website for the official rules.

Thats it. Looks pretty easy to understand to me. I am setting the rules because its my challenge. If you guys have some sort of personal problem with me, fine, I don't care. You don't have to like the rules. You don't have to enter either. I layed down my offer. Anyone is welcome to challenge.
AWD DSM 1
Just a what if here but...

masterhonduhbuilder is the only one who enters the contest, and then his car is found not to comply with the NHRA or NDRA rules... who keeps the money?
ranta18
LOL! Funny. But if that does happen, I'll donate it to DSM Central.

I will be in the NDRA Pro-Stock class and/or the NHRA All-Motor class.
wortdog
Besides, its 11.49 and quicker needs a cage nowadays.
ranta18
Yeah, I heard the NHRA changed it to 11.49 for 2005....

Update: The NDRA is going along with the NHRA for the 11.49 cage rule. Good news for some of you guys without a cage.
natedogg
I understand the rules are there for safety. But if a guy runs an 11.3 with or without a cage it doesn't change the fact that he ran an 11.3. What good does it do to take that away from him beside dull the competition. Its not like he's "cheating" or anything.

Like I said before its nothing personal, just my opinion.
ranta18
Its cool. If I bend the rules this one time, then people will want to change other things too. I have to stick to the rules. And I don't want some guy building a car out of cardboard, running 9's, and then hitting the wall and dying. I don't want that on my conscience. I'll leave it to the NHRA and NDRA to decide what is safe and what isn't.

An 11.5x might win this thing. You never know. We'll all have fun trying to be the fastest.
AWD DSM 1
If darryll shows up It'll have to be a 9.5x.... wink.gif
akamiami
there should be a separate side bet for the guys with actual street cars. The rules are simply this. You have to drive it there, as you intend to race it, all the way from your home (and no less than 50 miles). Any gas, any configuration, any power adders, any tires, but it must be street driven on _that_ day if no other. I'd say you'd have to drive it home at the end too, but don't want to exclude the guys who drive it so hard they break stuff in the process.

2 twenties to get in, so a $40 bet says that your vehicle can outrun anything on the street.
ranta18
Sounds good Kris. You should start a thread for it.

Oh, and you bet your pooper our little wager is still on. And remember you spotted me 1/2 second.
ranta18
Comments like that only bring down the site and thread. If you don't like the Challenge and are not going to participate, that is perfectly fine, but don't ruin it for others that are interested. Other people think different than you, so please show some respect for their different opinion. Thanks!

Darryll shall be some good competition. If he ends up going and gets some clean runs in, I won't have a chance. I'm still going to enter though. I don't care who shows.
