I am shopping for parts to do the amazing 2.4 L AWD swap out in the Mutant GSX.

right now here is a list of parts that I think I may need, if anyone has any suggested parts that I didn't think of, please post.

I need:

2.4L 6 bolt block
a trani that can harness the power
FMIC
parts for the -6AN fuel line swap (tank to engine)
High flow -6AN fuel filter
AFPR

Do I need:

different length cv shafts
fuel rail
different ecu
different wiring harness
bigger than 550 injectors
bigger than walbro 255 fuel pump
I different head/intake
also, will the evo III turbo be enough to feed this beast
different exhaust/header

general questions in my mind...
I am thinking that the engine should physically bolt right up to the trani and the motor mounts, but I am not sure, I am also thinking that the head should bolt right up too... I am hoping the the EVO III turbo should be enough to supply ample boost to the beast (16-20 lbs w/out really wringing it out) if not what snail will accomplish my goal... what compression should the pistons be for the setup. Is this think even freakin do-able???

I am ultimately going to have the block machined and assembled w/ eagle forged rods and wiseco forged pistons...
the head will also get similar high quality treatment


what else am i forgetting here... there has to be something!!!

The short answer is that everything bolts up. You'll be using your same set-up with a different crank and other internals. Same head, intake, wiring, ecu, etc.

Same tranny with same half shafts etc.

It's been done with small turbos like 14B's so your E316G will just spool VERY quickly.

I'll try to post more info when I have a bit more time to re-read and give more detail.

You're probably going to need some better pistons for that setup. N/A pistons aren't going to last long under the heat of a turbocharger. While at it, I'd recommend a set of rods too, for added measure. The crank should be up to the challenge though. This is all I can recall from readings a while back.

Well I could be wrong but I believe you WILL need a different crank than the one currently in your car. Otherwise you'll still have a 2.0 liter car unless there is some plan for a truly massive overbore.

From what I remember, the rods and pistons will have to be matched to the new crank as well unless you are doing a 4g64 set-up.

Marcus would be the best source for reliable information here on the actual internal parts list as the one we put in at the shop was already assembled.

The other parts though are pretty straightforward. Think of it like dropping in a 383 stroker into your small block powered Chevy. Most things are exactly the same, just the internal components of the engine happens to be a stroker.

For the record...

The pistons in this swap will have to be aftermarket, that has more to do with clearance than strength.

Stock NA 9:1 4G63 pistons have held up perfectly to 22+ psi, with no issues at all. I understand that it seems that they would not last, but trust me. I run a bone-stock NA bottom end, complete with balance shafts and no oil squirters. I've been running this set-up for over 20k miles, without any problems.

i was accually looking into the idea of a true 4G64 swap out... not just a stroking of the old 4G63 7 bolt. how difficult is it to find a 4G64 turbo block, and how much does this change the do-ability of this project idea??

Ok, just to clarify, there are two types of strokers here.

2.3L stroker
uses a 4G63 block
4G64 crank
aftermarket rods and pistons to adjust for the lengthened stroke

2.4L stroker
uses a 4G64 block
4G64 crank
stock stroke for the motor
needs aftermarket pistons to adjust wrist pin height

James, I knew you could use an N/A block and rods for a motor swap. The guy I get parts from builds them all the time with great success. The only part I was unsure about was the pistons because he usually puts forged ones in whenever he goes without oil squirters. Thanks for the info about the pistons.

Now, that being said, I don't believe that you can put a 4G64 crank into a 4G63 7-bolt without some major modification to the block. The crank journals on a 7bolt are skinnier than the 6 Bolt and I think the G64 crank is a direct drop in for the 6bolt block.

there is a 7 bolt g64b/4g64 and a 6 bolt cranks are interchangable within the 2 pm me and i can give you more info on where to find said blocks...btw you probably will not outflow a 255lph fuel pump it should handle ALOT of power ...i have a safc2 for sale

actually I believe he DID that swap, and has since sold it.

If I am not mistaken the 94 Galant had the 7bolt 4G64 with the DOHC and that is what he rebuilt and turboed.
