Like most older Talon's these days, my headlights have that wonderfull yellow haze over them. It has to be one of the ugliest things and annoys the hell out of me, but new headlights are pretty pricey. Does anybody know of a good way to clean your lights and get rid of that yellow haze?

Thanks

Aluminum polish followed by rubbing compound does the trick.

DSMtalk had a thread (before they shut down) about this. Mothers Chrome Wheel Polish is supposed to work pretty good on those yellow hazed headlights. I tried it once, it worked pretty good but wet sanding and then polishing really does the trick.

I would agree with the wet sanding. Using the polishes alone only fixes it for a few months. When I wet sand I like to use a special white cream lubricant on the paper. It really brings out the lustre biggthumpup.gif

Wanna elaborate a little bit?

I would go in this order:
600 grit wet sand
800 "
1000 "
1500 " (if you can find 1500 grit paper)
Aluminum polish
Rubbing compound

You may not need to go down to 600 grit, but it's not really going to hurt anything. The "special cream" is my own blend of herbs and spices. Buy me dinner and a movie, and I just might let ya have some. ph34r.gif biggthumpup.gif

Could someone else step in here? I'm beginning to feel uncomfortable. ph34r.gif unsure.gif

I guess I need to be a little more........direct with my jokes.

Yes, wet sanding involves water and some 3M Imperial Wetordry sandpaper. Get it at wal-mart or a home center. Soak the paper in water for a min, wet the area, and begin sanding. Constantly flush the area with water from a sponge, hose, ect. while sanding. Since you can take the headlight lenses off, just take em into the sink and do this if that's possible. Just don't dunk the lens in water, or it'll get trapped inside.

I'm just as guilty as the next guy for the gay jokes, guys. But we have been directed by those with more power than us to keep the gay jokes to a minimum.

Something to do with insecurity issues or something like that...j/k! biggrin.gif

Haha! Sorry, I guess I have been going a little overboard with that. Well, jokes aside, dstock22, I hope the info helps.

Oh yes, it helped me a ton. Once the weather stoped being so shitty around here I'll get out there and give it a try.

Gonna have to leave the lights on the car though b/c I can't figure out how the hell to get 'em off. I was undoing one of the bolts and before I realized there was another one underneath it too, I snapped the bolt off, DOH! I just don't know how the hell you are supposed to be able to get underneath the light to take 'em off.

.....God I'm such a car novice.
