Today I picked up my fuel pressure sending unit for my electric Autometer gauge to go on the a-pillar. It is nothing like I expected. For $125 you get this little inch and a half piece that doesn't even come with a connector so that I can hook up the wires, but that's another story.

My question today is, how in the heck do I mount this thing? I know you want it as close to the regulator as possible, but where? Everything is tight enough as is, where am I going to find room to (I am assuming you do it this way) drill and tap a hole for the sending unit? Pictures are as follows.

Would here be OK?

My main concern is the drilling and tapping. The thread part of the sending unit is pretty long and it's going to stick out a ways if I just drill and tap the fuel rail itself without welding on a bung. How should I do it? Thanks

BTW, there is also a special banjo bolt that Autometer makes to go with the fuel pressure sending unit so that it will bolt onto the fuel filter. The theory on that though is that it's too far away from the fuel injectors to read accurately. Just a thought
