I currently own a '02 civic lx, and I am tired of being slow.
I am thinking of selling it and buying a 2nd gen Eclipse or Talon
To avoind the evil "C" word the first order of business would be an engine swap.
what would be more reasonable $, difficulty, availability, and stock hp
evo engine
1st gen engine
?????
Thanks

We would surely welcome you, and be glad to see a another happy DSM owner. But the first thing you need to so is get rid of the word 'swap' from your vocabulary!
Actually either engine would be good, both with similar potential. The 1g transplant has been well documented though and they are easier to come by.

Is this the guy that's interested in my GST? It's a 1G, not a 2G. It won't need an engine 'swap'.

Not to turn you away from DSM, but do your homework first. Upgradeing to a turbo car cost more. Also, you have to find the right TEL and that can be very hard. It can be hard to wead out the crapy cars from the good ones. I suggest a 1G 6 bolt. It is hard to find one in good shape, but they tend to last longer without a rebuild and I personaly think they have less problems. Thats just going by peoples cars I know of. I'm sure the whole pool of DSMs might very, but I've known some unlucky bastards.
Also, look at a GVR4. The build quality is better by far.

Go for a 1g six bolt "upgrade". Easy to come by, but may need a rebuild. Good solid motor, no crankwalk.
A bit of advice... although they don't look as "cool" (really personal opinion) the 1g's are lighter, and IMO easier to work on, and more solid. In the end it comes down to what you really like better.
