Full Version: engine questions/timing belt tensioner

Well im currently getting ready to reassemble my car, so i probably will have alot of questions. This one is about the timing belt tensioner. I was told to get this through the dealer, so i called obrien mitsu. and they told me it would be 110.19, so i called my local chrysler dealer and told them i had an eagle talon, they looked it up and said it would be 38.29. Then out of curiousity i called Autozone and they have them for 16.00 even. So is the mitsu dealer on crack, or are these other places looking up the wrong part? And has anyone tried to get one through autozone and use them, or is it a bad idea?

On a side note, what things should i make sure to change before dropping the motor back in, hopefully this will help keep my number of threads down. What do i need from a dealer, and what can i get from an auto part store (heater hoses, throw out bearing, sensors)?

And im looking for the inspection place cover for a 90 AWD Manual, mine broke in half if anyone has it. KOU?

Also for an ACT 2100 clutch, am i looking to spend about 300 bucks no matter where i look? Not sure what the going rate was for them. And where is a common place for flywheel resurfacing?

Napa resurfaces flywheels. Not sure about the Chrysler vs. Mitsu tensioner. I wouldn't buy one from Autozone though.

BTW, I'm looking for an inspection plate cover as well. So if you find one, let me know.

I've had my flywheel resurfaced at Kalina and Napa both with good results.

I'd make sure you're getting a price for the same part, specify that you want the hydraulic tensioner. Chrysler would be as good as mitsu if you ask me.

I just called Kalina yesterday...$54.08 to resurface a flywheel

$10 to blast the rust off before resurfacing.
