Full Version: A/C doesn't work

Well I finally got my A/C temperature plug fixed....but no joy. Still no A/C.

I hooked up my Pocketlogger and it shows the A/C Switch and A/C clutch diagnostic not turning on.

I checked the 2 fuses under the hood, both good. The light on the A/C dash switch works (light changes color) and the second cooling fan turns on when the A/C switch is activated.

So, is there anything I'm missing? If the system is low on freon, is there a low pressure switch that prevents it from turning the compressor on?

If I need more freon, I'm going to need to convert it over to the new freon. Anybody know a reliable show to convert it that won't rape me??

yes it is low the compressor wont turn on, convert it to r134 yourself and save some money. http://www.vfaq.com/mods/r134a.html

Call Rick at R&R Certified 309-828-7887. Mention that you know Brett from Bill Smith Auto Parts. He should be able to vaccum out the system for you for next to nothing if you want to do the rest yourself. If you're lazy like me, he has everything to do the vaccum and put the good stuff back in.

Thanks guys...

I'd like to take it somewhere at least to get it vacumed and tested to see if it has a leak before I put the new freon in. I'm kind of lazy too when it comes to some repairs....

Well, if there is a leak look me up. Although I don't have any in stock, I can order in a compressor or condensor if yours is leaky.
