Full Version: Rear Bumper cover issues!!!

Well one of the many things my GSX is getting fixed before it hits the road again is the rear bumper. Well im not exactly familiar with whats under the cover, but both license plate lights are dangling down, and when i touch the sheet metal up where they mount to, it just crumbles to pieces. Im trying to get the cover off to see how much damage is under there, and it really has me scratching my head on pulling it off. Im guessing there are bolts under the tail lights and center section that are still holding it on, any tips on getting it off easier. And what kind of fix is there to repair it. Im sure someone has seen what im talking about, and how do i fix it if there is no metal left there.

on a side note, i went to try to replace my old heater hoses (engine compartment) and the dealer can only find ones for under the dash, anyone have part #s for them? i would just use bulk hose from a roll, but these have special curves to them that will pinch off if i use regular hose. Thanks

Strange. There is no heater hose under the dash. The under-hood heater hose connects directly to the heater core through the firewall.

Take the rear taillights out to see just how many bolts you haven't even seen yet. There are several along the top bolting it to the bumper support and a couple on the inside bolting it to the quarter panel. The rear bumper is kind of a biotch but if you take your time you should be ok. I believe that liscense plate bracket is available through the dealer too.

Maybe we just read the parts page wrong, but from what it looked like, the hoses it did show were on the inside of the firewall. But i guess we didnt read it right.

Thanks turbohcar, i didnt realize they sold that. Looks like exactly what im needing, depending on how badly it is rusted out up there.
