Well, now that I've got the car driving, let's get down to the nitpicky stuff.
I'm not totally sure my radiator fans are kicking on when they're supposed to be. I can turn the A/C on and it turns both of them on but I'd like it to come on when it starts getting hot...like it's supposed to. I do have a 2G aluminum radiator in it currently with the 1G fans rigged up behind it. I'm positive both fans are working because they both kick on when the A/C is turned on. I guess I don't know if the 2G radiator is that much better that it's just running that cool or not (it is a smidge wider and made of aluminum). The stock water temp gauge (yes I know, Autometers are soon to come) is standing straight up and down when at idle usually and sometimes just a hair past straight up and down, never any more than that. Is there a way to test the sensor/sending unit?
Thanks
Brett

I tested mine using this page:
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/7678/dsmtests.htmlI checked the resistence of the sensor cold and then I let the motor heat up and then very carefully checked the reisistance of the sensor hot. And matched the values to the chart on the page above. Mainly I was just looking to make sure the resistence dropped as the temp went up.

Thanks for the info! I'll try testing it tonight.

That sensor has nothing to do with when the fan turns on in a 1G, you need to check the sensor that screws into the radiator. It should be high ohm when cool, and it should go to almost 0 ohms when it gets over 200 degrees or so. If you don't have that sensor, that would explain why the fan doesn't come on by itself.

eeewwwww....I didn't know there was a sensor in the radiator itself. I may end up having to buy a brand new 1G radiator (arrrgggg!!! for $150). Does the sensor you're referring to have the white plug-in Wort?
BTW, I think the car got a little hot last night. I was driving it around the block last night (in 97 degree weather) and it got a little hotter than usual. I pulled it back in the garage when I got home, shut it off, and I could hear the coolant boiling in the radiator. Needless to say it scares me a little. I've got more water than coolant in it.

Yeah, white seems right. Its the one that screws into the lower passenger side corner of the radiator. You could just wire the fans to a manual switch, or find a place to screw the sensor into the thermostat housing area.
