Yeah...Lets get this party started! Get pumped and get the rides ready.
This guy may not be the fastest, but I have pre-registered a '66 Fairlane that is supposed to run 10.60's. So if you want to see something a little faster than your average daily beater or you want to see if this guy can hang with you...Slo Pny Drag Day is where it's at.

Hey Image why don't you bring the white one so I can brag about beating it instead of me beating the black one just to hear you say well race the white on then! I will race the white one at a track and this is the perfwct chance for you to put up or shut up.
You know I will be glad to see you there either way. I don't know how we are still freinds, with you being such a pain in the ass sometimes! J/K

if I can get piping and get the whore mounted, money and time are low

unintercooled turbo cars in 95 degree heat tend to be dog ass slow

You'd be very hard pressed to find a purpose built, high budget turbo drag car without an intercooler.
Even cars running methanol still use giant frontmounts.
wortdog
Jul 29 2005, 02:26 PM
Also, a Buick guy did back to back testing a few years back. Methanol and a large front mount intercooler was faster than every other combination, including methanol with no cooler. Racegas without the cooler was pretty pathetic.

If it didn't work in the 1/4 mile, it would never work. In fact, they're most effective in the 1/4 mile because they don't have time to heatsoak. Every boosted Pro 5.0 guy has an intercooler, I'm sure they're not sporting them for ricer bling. Those RX-3s are hardly purpose built racecars compared to the Pro 5.0 guys.
The turbo heats up air instantly, in the act of compressing it. It doesn't magically get hotter and hotter. The amount the air is heated is dictacted by the compressor housing, the compressor wheel, and the desired pressure increase(boost). This heated air is much less dense than ambient temp air at a given pressure, and also more prone to causing detonation.
The hot air flowing through the IC is cooled by contact with the 1,000's of much cooler aluminum fins inside. This cooling increases the density of the air while dropping the pressure only slightly. This is due to all of the hot air coming into the inlet of the cooler pushing on it, which keeps the pressure and flow up.

I didn't diss them, I just said they aren't tube chassis low six second cars. I doubt the silver car runs 7's.

Jul 30 2005, 10:26 PM
Oh, and FYI, the silver car has a front mount intercooler.

Give me a break. You have full access to a metal working shop, and enough hands to do that in 2 hours. Jbone and I did mine in about that time, with half the recourses at our disposal.
I also have apparantly ZERO money, I may be stuck working instead of prepping any cars and might not be able to show

if it comes, it will surely piped with PVC thats for sure

LAST CALL! All racers now have less than 24 hours to finish your projects and get them on the road to Cordova in the morning!
The weather looks promissing and we have more pre-registered racers than we have had in a while. I look forward to seeing you all out there.

Alright, the latest news is that we have a couple more 9-10 second cars signed up. One is even featured in Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine!
For those of you about to wrench through the night in preparation for the drag day. I solute you!
