hi all.

as you might have known, chambana has had a few pretty heavy downpours as of late. all of which i've had to drive my car home in. turns out that this morning i hear this noise comming from my front left (driver's side) wheel/wheelwell. it sounds as though water splashed into my strut/shocks (whatever) and is making a high pitched squeeking noise every now and again. Note: this has only happened twice. Both times after a heavy rain.

i've got stock suspension on my car (97). do you think they're just getting old?
natedogg
8 years. It may time to replace or better yet, upgrade.

turbohcar
KYB AGX adjustable struts

Eibach Pro Kit Springs
haunter
Koni.

Koni's are by far the best off the shelf DSM shock, they're what I run.
SCCA Stang
Koni's worked well on my Dakota R/T when I had it.

They really helped keep the rear planted during launch, I didn't seem to have any lateral hop over bumps on a turn, and they didn't really increase road noise either. I was running Koni's with Eibach prokit front springs and Koni's with aluminum lowering blocks for the rear leafs.

should i get a adjustable shocks/struts or non-adjustable

i was listening to my funny noise today on the way into work and it dawned on me and i said to myself.

"self.....golly gee....that's starting to sound alot like a slippry belt"

so i've gotta figure out if i'm right or not....stupid belts
MidwestDSM
whats a slippery belt? ph34r.gif
turbohcar
Similar to a slippery nipple Nick. A slippery belt occurs when the woman is in the kneeling position and the man is standing up in front of her......

close....but it just sounds like it's not catching all the time and starts squealing (like a woman).
turbohcar
Check your crank pulley, sometimes the squeal is a telltale sign that the rubber is seperating in the pulley and the outer half is about to fall off. I've got the same problem (only at startup though) but I think mine is because I'm trying to make the alternator pump too much juice for my stereo.
TotalEclipse97
which one is my crank pulley and how do i fix it....sorry.....newbie question....i have to learn sometime
black92_tsi_awd
It's the one mounted to the crankshaft! biggrin.gif

It is the lowest pulley as you look at the accessory drive system.
