I bought my 03 Yellow Evo last thursday in an attempt to have a nice winter car I could rely on. Until then I had been relying on beater cars I'd buy for several hundred bucks, fix them, and drive them. I kinda got fed up with playing with it, and now that I could afford something nice, I picked this beauty up.

Background

I went to like 8-9 dealerships, not knowing what I was going to buy. Completely different experience for me because I hardly ever "impulse" buy. I knew I was going to want something 4-door most likely, so my market was SRT-4, WRX, STi, IS300, Evo......cars like that. After 4-5 hours of driving around, and only ONE test drive in an SRT-4, we made one last attempt at finding something. We where headed to an out of town location, which was a Nissan dealership. Unfortunately there was nothing there. By chance i happened to look over in the Ford lot across the street and see something yellow. I know ford usually only makes yellow 'stangs and maybe a few trucks, but this thing had a wing.

Hoping I'd find something, we went over there, and sure enough, the 03 Evo and a 04 SRT-4 were sitting side by side on the used lot. Immediately I fell in love with the Evo, and the salesman agreed to let me test drive it. I went out and did the rounds with it (brakes, acceleration, handling, etc) We came back, talked numbers for a few hours, and I ended up driving her off the lot. At this point, I couldnt be happier with my buy.

The car also came with some bonus goodies, and it has low mileage for an 03 (20k) not to mention it showed signs of very little use. Now onto the pics....

Enjoy

Intake & MBC that came with the car

Defi Digital Boost guage...

In Dash DVD/Navigation Touchscreen Unit

Defi Link Controller

Blizt FATT

The car also came on Blizzack tires so it should run stellar in the winter, the downside is I'm going to have to find some wheels/tires come springtime if I really want to get the full potential of the car

Its hard to say where I want to go with the car from now, because I still have the Z and plan on keeping it

Right now I think the car is prepped to the point of where I would have taken it, if purchased stock. I havent gotten to read much upon the mod pathts, but I think it would be nice to do an AFC, or chip and up the boost to (what im hearing is safe on a stock turbo ) to around 21-22psi. I will most definately plan on doing a clutch sometime soon, any recommendations?

The brakes feel like they have a little wobble to them, but fortnately its still under factory warranty, so I should be able to take it in and have them looked at.

Nice ride! biggthumpup.gif

I'm really starting to like EVO's!

I don't remember the last time I saw a car on a dealer lot that had that many modications to it.
Then again, I don't shop for cars that much sad.gif

Thanks!

Actually I hadnt been on a dealer lot in over 6 months, and before hand i was just browsing, not actually looking to buy. I guess the amount of extra things is what made this so attractive. I would have done everything to the car (that is currently done) besides the DVD player prolly. Everything has pretty much been tasetfully done as well

Very nice ride! Over $20k but less than $25k? I am holding out until they fall below the 20k mark... The first pic is from the CAT AD parking lot isn't it?

Looks awesome! Looks like I'm not alone anymore as far as yellow Evo's go.

If you want to run a little extra boost you can pull the BCS restrictor out of the vaccuum line between the BCS and the wastegate I believe. Do a search on Evolutionm.net to see for sure. Its been so long since I've done it. You can also unscrew the blocker in the unmetered portion of the MAS for a little extra unmetered airflow. Helps lean out the overly rich factory fuel map.

I'd also suggest switching to an aftermarket or 1G BOV as well, because the stock on leaks like a sieve past 17 psi.

Finally, whenever you replace the clutch, upgrade the clutch line to a stainless steel one and pop out the restrictor. Might make it a little noisier but you'll have much more positive, confident engagement/disengagement.

Right on!

Thanks for the suggestions....

99spyder.......yes it is in the AD lot......i work there!!! And yes, i was in that price range. I got around 4k in extra mods, and I paid 24k OTD. Not bad IMO

Nate we'll have to get together sometime, I'd like to check out your Evo!

I thought the same thing as soon as I saw the first pic.

I used to service the CEFCU ATM's in all of the Cat plants and have been to AD several times.

Right now, the car is pretty damn fun, even on winter tires!

Well

Mods have officially been ordered biggthumpup.gif

I hate this addiction stuff.....
