I just wanted to post about the new Evo. Nice lines on her.

I like the seats, but everything else is yuck.

Well I thought it resimbled the Mazda 6 or the Mitsubishi Diamante. That's why I am not to hot for it.

As with the previous EVOs, it's going to have to grow on me. I do like the front end though. Kind of looks like it's snarling at you.

Headlights, taillights, interior WILL change. I hope they don't really try to come ANY closer to the fugly Audi/VW blacked out center front ... otherwise ...

Mitsu needs to learn when to stop models and make up new ones. Like the 3g eclipse should have been renamed. I think they should have continued perfecting the same bodystyle on the evo and made it even better. Now they are going to have different problems to work out. Dumbasses! They should let me be in charge!

I'm not too worried yet. Its still concept.

I really like the car... I understand that the right hand drive showed in the pics won't come to the states.... the only thing I didn't like is the shifter... other than that, Ben Likey!!!! Ben want one!!!

like the 8 much better......... let's hope they make some more changes to this concept

I think it looks pretty nice but I would rather take half of what it would cost and put into my car.

The body looks way to much like the new galants and the tail lights make me want to vomit.

I would have to agree with Kris. The only other thing i like besides the seats are the front head lights. But the evo 8 is sooooo much better!!!!! I even like the concept eclipse gsx better than this thing.

I like it for the most part. I think it will be more refined for production... at least I hope so because your not going to squeeze my 295lb butt into those seats. I imagine they will because I read somewhere that they purposely widened the US spec seats for the US market on the EVO VIII and IX.

Also has anyone heard any more about how mitsu plans to get more linier power from the 2.0 liter?

its alright it doesnt jump on me like the previous evo's have I dont like the shifter at all or really the inside other then the seats and the color

That's not the article written by Dino Carbonare is it? Right now it's a bunch of hype... I seriously doubt that model will come out in 2007 just because they need to have enough time to milk the EVO IX for all it is. Most manufacturers don't run a generational auto line for only one year unless it's complete junk.

Although if Mitsu does I can't blame them because for the most part the EVO IX is nothing more than a rebadged EVO VIII with a few minor extras. I went to the dealership and looked at one and I'm not impressed in the slightest.

I don't think this is about production model years for commuters. I believe this is about WRC. If that's true then this is easy to believe ... for some, anyway ...

If you notice Dino has some misinformation in that article.. one of the big things was something about the production years of the EVO VIII and IX. I read the online article a while back and found a few things wrong with the article. I'd have to see the article again to point out what I'm thinking about. Don't get me wrong Dino is an amazing photographer but that article has some flaws.

The article SCC had about the new "concept X" has me a little bit worried. We all know the 4g63 is gone, but its the talk of the electronically controlled active steering differential that scares me.

That probably means it's just electronic power steering, same as on: Honda Civic Si, almost all BMW's and a few other cars that escape my mind at this hour of the day. I think it's something of a safety thing

The Evo IX I believe is in it's second year right now.

I heard rumors of Direct Injection on the next model motor, which has helped the new Golf turbo have RIDICULOUS torque response (full torque at under 2k rpm)

Other than the interior, I welcome the new design

The Audi/VW 2.0L was 1.8L turbo motors have always had full torque between 1750 and 1950 rpms over the years. The response is mostly the ridiculously small turbo.

Horsepower: 200 hp @ 5,100-6,000 rpm
Torque: 207 lb-ft @ 1800-5000 rpm
What is interesting is the flat torque curve and the horsepower peak. With the direct injection they get over 30mpg highway in the Audi A4's

I like the MIVEC and direct injection concepts, God knows. It's what they're building into the trans/diff parts that's scary. Sure,they can make anybody a good driver and cover up tons of mistakes. But they take away some of the finesse you can achieve with talent and practice. All the automatic recovery and prevention pieces are going to inhibit some fun driving and techniques that can be used effectively for better performance at times ... just thoughts ...

That's why the '03-'04 Evo VIII will always be my favorite. No Active Center Differential. Just pure unadulterated mechanical diffs.

from the pics of the EvoX on the new SCC mag it looks like the X will be based on the 7-9 platform as well. I'm relieved.

I'm not so sure. After reading the article I took it that Evo VIII they were driving was just a test bed for the S-AWC system. The Evo IX was a J-spec version with the AYC. After seeing pics in Motor Trend of a taped up Evo X running on the Nuburgring, I don't think the exterior is going to look much like an VIII or IX.

Read the SCC article's beginning closely. This is a test mule for the drivetrain, nothing more. That's been the buzz when this thing's been talked about is that it's posing in a IX dress.

What they actually release COULD be based on the IX but, apparently, may not be ...

There wasn't enough info in that article on the intelligent braking to suit me just yet. Gonna hafta stay tuned ...

The platform could be based on the IX still, though. Look at the foxbody Stang. It went with roughly three different body styles, but it was still the same platform.

Yep, tis true. And not to mention that the fiscal 2006 year is the first in the last four years that they've actually turned a profit.

To be honest, I think it's going to kill EVO sales, even though they only account for a marginal portion of all Mitsubishi's revenue.
