i was just wondering how cool your dsms run with this cold weather??
turbohcar
172* all the time. Intake temps are different though, and ever since I pulled that bottom honeycomb the car surges.
BudmannG
OH I hate that S IT!
asiankid91
well when i first start my car and let her warm up to about 150* i take off and she just gets realy hot like from 216 to 220. then after cruseing on the high way she cools down to about 199 to 203 its realy starting to piss me off and i was just wondering if u guys ever ran in to this problem?
BudmannG
Take that grill cover off and you will probly have better air flow.
asiankid91
i have all that stuff out of their when i was trying to put on the fmic on. I would think i have more air flow with all that shit out of there
BudmannG
You should have a pee load of air.
turbohcar
You need some sort of ducting in there in order to direct air flow through the FMIC and the radiator. Most people don't think of that when they put their FMIC on but you do. Air won't go into the FMIC and radiator by itself. It'd rather go the easy way, around it. So, get yourself some sheet metal and start cutting some ducting.
asiankid91
i was thinking i broke the water pump
turbohcar
I can't say that it isn't but I do know most DSMs tend to run hotter with a FMIC in front of the radiator.
asiankid91
i dont have the fmic on right now
BudmannG
But you also don't have anything directing the air in to the radiator.
asiankid91
yea i will try that and see what she dose
mitsu90
get rid of that POS slim fan and put the stocker back on.

I agree with mitsu90, Take it out. It doesn't pull the same amount of air as the stocker.
asiankid91
i will try that too
natedogg
I'm not saying its not the ducting or the slim fan thats causing the hot temps, but I'm skeptical.

I run a fmic without any ducting to the radiator and have never had an overheating issue.

I also run two slim fans on my radiator each capable of flowing 2000 cfm a piece. This is more than the stockers are capable of pulling. I guess it depends on what kind of aftermarke fan you are using, but most are capable of pulling quite a bit of air.
asiankid91
well i have two pushers i bought them from winers circle the brand is flext a lite 1107 cfm 12" fan should i put them in and pull the air??
mitsu90
hell yeah if you have 2 new one's put them on
asiankid91
no i have had them of my car for a wile now
mitsu90
I thought you only had that one on your car
BudmannG
I'm lost guys. Adam you have two pushers on the car right now? Or you have two brand new ones that you can put on the car?

I am only running the stocker on mine, and mind you it's just one fan. I don't have the a/c fan in anymore. And I always, knock on wood, run cool and never over heat. The only time I ever overheated was when my "dumbass brother-in-law" didn't hook the fan back up.

What radiator are you running, isn't it a 2G radiator? Are the radiator fins clear of debri to get proper air flow. (I.E. no leaves, trash, dead animals, or just clogged with bug debri)

Check these things out and let us know what's going on, K!
turbohcar
You should be running two fans that pull before you ever try to put fans on the front.
fastclipse82
thermostat?
asiankid91
replaced that i was thinking i broke the water pump is it posbile?

Agreed. Push fans will block airflow especially when they aren't running.
asiankid91
yea the only reason i had them on the out side was becuase of the header, it set so close to the Radiator but now i have a 2g manifold so i will try to put them in the inside
