Its time. Bottom end is getting worn out. Im tired of trying to tune a worn out motor with tons of Phantom Knock, It seems impossible to get a good tune with this thing. Its got quite a bit of blow-by, its smoking and my leak down test proved it too.

So... Ive been poking around looking at prices and such and Im wondering what parts I should go with.
Heres a List I got from SlowBoy. Because they have everything listed with prices Im using them just as a reference, Not necessarialy going to buy from them.

Pistons:
Ross $440
Wiseco $440
JE $550

Rods:
Eagle $350
Scat $320 (with ARP studs installed)

Im going to get all APR studs, Not sure what bearings to get, Clevite? Stock?

I guess my biggest question is the Pistons and Rods.
Is there a huge difference between the Eagle and Scat?
What about Pistons? Any opinions on the ones I have listed? Im a big fan of JE's in my Quad but not sure about how they hold up in a DSM. Or if theyre worth the extra $100

Scat vs. Eagle, i have not used either but my research says scat is the same as eagle but with better quality, but there are no big #s on dsm scat rods yet. If i was building a motor i would get wiseco pistons, cheap and good enough for 650whp+ street/strip car.

I recommend wiseco pistons for a DD. Their piston sidewall clearance spec is closest to stock so they slap less.

I'd stay away from weisco pistons as I've read that they tend to crack blocks due to the piston-sidewall clearance being too tight for high horsepower applications.

one piston may spec out the same as another during a rebuild, but the problem arises because each alloy expands differently

i got a line on a guy in indiana that makes titanium rods. a friend got some for his 944. they are a bit pricey though. $500 a rod. but they are saweeeet!!!! ridiculously light!

of course i dont see many dsm'ers going for titanium rods... no sense in paying more for parts than ya paid for the entire car
