Anybody ever replace the soldered on connection for the rear window defroster?

I'm afraid to solder it and crack the glass from the heat.

I've talked to a couple professional glass installers on this type of issue since I've been at the dealership. Apparently there is a kit out to reattach the connectors, but these guys don't have any faith that they will stay on after the experiences they have had. I'd say it's worth a try if your doing it yourself.

Try a cold solder kit, only get hot when touches metal and cools as fast.

Don't use the cold solder thing. It's a great little soldering iron, but you'll need some more juice than that. I've got a 100w gun you could borrow. I attempted this on one of my cars before, and it didn't go so well. I HIGHLY recommend pulling the hatch off so you can do this right-side-up. Otherwise, the solder drips, and the connection falls apart before the solder cools.
