ok guys... I have a nasty leak on the gasket or on the pipe that returns oil from the turbo back to the oil pan.... I am losing about 2 quarts of oil a week... with mobil 1, that gets expensive!!!

did someone here once say something about a SS line that replaces that tube??? if so where can I get one and how much was it??? was it a kit or did you have to peice it together???? what is used for fittings to the turbo and to the pan???

i had that problem a lot of times were the flex is on the return line it will crack and leak oil. what i did was just buy some hose and cut out the flex part and put that pice of hose in

when I mentioned it to the guy at AMS tonight, he said it was probably a broken flex piece just like you said asian kid.....

I was just wanting to know where to get a good (permenent) fix for it and do it in my garage at home to save some cash???

I seen somewhere, that a guy makes it so a an fitting will clip right on to the oil pan. I think it was on DSMTALK in the for sales. He welds a fitting into the oil pan. And supplies a ss return line with either 8 or 10 an fittings.

Ahh... a topic I can relate heavily to. Take the return line you have right now and cut the flex section out of it. BAM!!!! GONE!!!!

Then, take a piece of rubber flexible tubing and two worm clamps... do you see where I am going with this?

Installation is done in pieces, since you cannot get a socket around the tube to the bolts. But it's $2-4 for replacement gaskets and maybe another $5 for the tubing and clamps.

Darryl uses it (at least he did when I had this problem 1 and half years ago). And if that ain't good enough that a 9 sec. DSM does, then.... go spend more!!!!

sure as hell beats $50-$60 for a stock flex pipe that is just gonna break again... also beats $100+ for an aftermarket AN fitted one

the problem I had using the hack method on the oil return was that the rubber deteriorated quite fast causing leaking. Probably okay for a drag dsm or one that seldom sees the street, but I found that on my daily driven gsx, it just wasn't enough.

So I opted to pay FP like 80 for their line which I can't complain about. it's just another one of those things that sucks that it costs so much, but in the long run, is worth it.

maybe I will do the cheap fix for now and fix it right when cash is coming a little easier

What grade of rubber were you using? I used some fuel grade rubber hose that I haven't had any issues with after many thousand miles.

trojan rubber - grade: for her pleasure, it was spermicidally coated too, so I thought it would be impervious to vehicle spunk.

eh, it was just stuff I had laying in the hose and vacuum line bin. probably some heater core coolant hose as it's approx same size.

Well thar's your problem right thar. Durex is the only way to go for any extracurricular vehicular activiticulars. Or was that Kotex? Heeellll, I dunno.

Now Ben you know in the back of your head you are telling yourself to do this the right way. You have already stated that you DON'T want it to break again. So I would do it right the first time.

true, how ever..... can't do anything without the flow... so the temp fix looks like the way to go for now
