I just bought a msd RPM switch relay with the rpm pills, and shift light and was wondering if anyone had one or could tell me how to hook it up. Actually only need to know which wires to hook it too.. Already looked on vfaq and there isnt nothing. Its pretty much like hooking up an aftermarket tach I was told. Any help will be appreciated.

you didn't specify which MSD shift light you have so you might need to download the user instructions for your specific model, but here is one as an example.

I know that it has to hook to a wire on the coil but not sure which wire it is. It hooks up just like installing an aftermarket tach. Im doing it on my 2g and didint know if anyone on here had installed one and knew the right wire. Will keep you updated though!

don't hook it to the coil, make it easy on yourself and piggyback the tachometer wire on the ecu. That's how I installed my Autometer shift light and how the SAFC's get their RPM readings. In fact, check the SAFC install in the vfaq if you want step by steps.

well i am hooking my SAFC to that wire and wasnt sure that it would be accurate with the two on the same wire

You're tapping in for a signal, that's all. You're not altering the signal with voltage or current. It's just snooping around to find out what the rpm's are. It shouldn't affect the tach signal at all.

on that diagram for the 2g ecu terminals, which one would be the wire that the RPM wire from the AFC hooks too?

This was actually easy to hook up after I found the rpm wire. The rpm switch only had four wires. Black, Red, White and grey. The grey isnt used and the white went to the rpm wire of the ecu. +/- black and red. Really easy and makes hooking the shift light really easy also.
