With this 2.3ltr I've had problems with MAD oil in my spark plug wells. The car smokes sometimes at crazy times.Has anyone ever had this problem and did it smoke and what was your cure? I tried to get a mad tite JDM valve cover but some asshat from Chrome2Go is attempting to screw me.I'll post up that story after i get this fixed wacko.gif

Only 2 places I know of that oil ends up in the valve cover/spark plug wells like that is either a bad gasket on the oil fill cap or the valve cover, or a cracked valve cover.

Or some missing/bad spark plug hole valve cover gaskets.

All of these suggestions should lead you to some sort of solution.

ditto on all of that unless you are really sloppy when you pour oil in your car

It can also get in there from an over active breather.

I bent down the arms on the oil filter cap so it sealed tighter. Eliminated 95% of the oil leak.

The other fix is to get a new gasket and when you put it on, leave the old one on the cap and place the new one over top of the old one. Kicks taught me that one! It's been working on my car for quite a while now.

Something tells me that it's not from an oil filler cap gasket. Todd has been on this site for quite a while and knows of these issues.

I would definately ponder to guess it being the valve cover gasket. Probably the spark plug gaskets.

Or it could be a bad valve cover.

I'm leaning towards the valve cover. I ppreciate all the info.I siliconed the hell out of it and the gaskets are fairly new.I think I will make a spacer for my filler cap for just in case. I thought maybe crankcase pressure so I did a road tube but that didnt seem to help much. I'll keep you all posted as I will be using the Black Bitch for my daily driver next week. smile.gif

interestingly enough, I've noticed that the evo 8 has a little tube that passes through the valve cover and allows excess oil that pools in the valve cover to drain out. rather than get into the valve cover and spark plug wells, it just messes up the back of the eninge and intake manifold.

The one I did is a little longer and runs past the motor and she marks her territory wherever she goes smile.gif

I had this problem but it was from bad aim when adding oil unsure.gif

So there's actually a tube that drains the oil onto the intake manifold and back of the engine? I'm interested as to what you're describing here as I've got a pool of oil sitting in the curve of the intake manifold on mine. Thanks
