Full Version: Anyone have a tap?

I stripped out one of the mounting bolts on my transmission. Was wondering if anyone happened to have a 1/2" or bigger tap that I could borrow to get this straightened out. Except for you, Rob. You'll probably put high explosive in the tap in an attempt to take my car out. ohmy.gif tongue.gif

I've got a heli coil setup for m12x1.75 from doing my trans.

I'll throw it in the car and meet you tomorrow if you want it.

Joe, if I wanted to take your car out, I'd probably just use this Scud I bought on the cheap as Iraq was being invaded..... biggthumpup.gif

I may have a tap, can't remember how big my set goes...

Seriously though, if these guys can't get it up, I should have a tap that will work for you. I have a complete metric set and a bunch more that I have bought at one time or another.

Is that the size i need? For some reason I had it in my head that it was a 14, but that doesn't make sense, because a 1/2" tap certainly wouldn't work. Cool. Where can I meet you at tomorrow? Somewhere we can be alone, perhaps? ph34r.gif

Nate: Why didn't you speak up sooner, pal? I'll gladly swing by and give you a good rogering for an hour or so. Oh, sorry. I guess I have to respect you 'cause you're going to be a father and all. My bad. laugh.gif

Rob: I heard your set goes plenty big, stud. wink.gif

The stock thread is m12x1.25...I couldn't find that size so I went with what was available.

Soooo...you'll have to pick up a new bolt.

You'll need a 1/2" drill also for the drill bit.

Sent you a PM with my cell and a PRIVATE location....

The Master Of Tools needs not your proffering of a drill. He is more than equipped to handle tasks of varying sizes and shapes. Bits are of no concern, either. Muwhahahahaha....er..... god I'm dumb.
