I don't think you are going to find too many Honda guys on here. JMoushon is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. You could also look up Ranta on CSS. Enjoy the gas mileage!

the first thing i went for on my last honda was suspension since i'm an autocrosser.. so if i were to get another, that is prly what i would focus on first. the tie bars definitely make a big difference.
are you wanting to turbo it, do an engine swap, or just stick with the sohc
if its gonna be na sohc go intake, header, exhaust, cam, intake manifold
engine swap, well that will cost enough on its own so after doing that you prly wouldnt do any mods for awhile, although i would do some pm on it before putting it in(new water pump, oil pump, timing belt) and perhaps a lightweight flywheel and clutch
if you are gonna turbo the sohc then you just need a crx hf manifold, an adapter plate, a t25 or 14b, side mount ic, and injectors all from a dsm. get something to tune with.. at the very least a wideband and afc, but you might look into uberdata or chrome to tune with(if you have a laptop)
oh yea, if you are gonna stick with the sohc, put a vtec head on it.. or pick up a d16y8 and do the complete swap.. doesnt cost much and will definitely give ya some more power

definetly do a motor swap or youll be sorry. I learned my lesson. A b16A2 or a b18 would be two good choices.

actually he could build a strong sohc for a fraction of the cost of a swap..
dont doubt the power of the sohc honda

i dont dought that it can be done but after dumping 3K into sohc ( 97 ex ) and getting beat by a b16A2 powered civic. its worth the few hundred extra dollors.

a few of the mods I had :
msd ignition system
full 2.5" exhaust
full cold air intake
throttle body spacer
stage 2 clutch
pulleys
fuel system
and with all this a probably a few others I still got beat buy a stock 05' cavalier. In my opinion its not worth it.

there was an article in one of the magazines last month about the potential of the sohc and how to build one on the cheap that will perform better than a b16
with a cap of $3k i could buy a civic sohc and build it to the level of a b16
dont get me wrong, i love the b16.. its one of my all-time favorite motors...

Howabout no mods ever and just use it for what it is: a comfortable and reliable daily driver that would cost thousands to make what some of us would consider fast...
however if you want a swap I have one. B16

accually according to pm guidelines set OEM by Honda... timing belt and water pump aren't required until 105,000 or 8 years (I work at a Honda dealer)
but I agree with Turbo Tension... don't waste your money by modding it... just keep it a reliable gas saver

i realize that, but when you get a swap, you never can be certain the actual mileage on the engine, and its a better safe than sorry kind of thing.. it may not need it, but its better to do it then while the engine is out of the car and have the peace of mind knowing that its replaced and you wont have to worry about it for some time

what would i need to turbo it? and what kinda of HP gain would i get (i know that it depends on the size of turbo) but would i be able to get a kit or fashion a kit for this engine ? D16Y7 i think

so where'd my old motor end up?
scrapin_frame
May 26 2006, 03:21 PM
as i said before.. get an exhaust manifold from an hf crx, get a t25 or 14b, side mount intercooler, 1g dsm bov, and dsm 450cc injectors and then something to tune with. you'll have to weld in a bung on your oilpan for the return line

old motor is still in the car. sold the car to a friend (mechanic) he's doing some Cam work, full 3" exhaust, T61 turbo...basically he's got a lot of money and likes fast things.

I put a grand into my d16z6 cx hatch and it ran low 13's. turbo D is a good cheap way to go if you want to make it quick.
