I am sure that you would get some better air flow but you would miss out on measuring the amount of air (MAF - Mass air flow) and the temperature of the air (IAT - Inlet Air Temp). That would result in the car running like crap, either too rich or too lean.
I know that some of the turbo guys put the MAF after the turbo, which is referred to as a blow through setup. Since you don't have a turbo I don't think that you have much for options outside of a standalone ECU with IAT and MAP sensor...
