So a few months ago my timing belt decided to exit the engine bay due to being soaked by oil. The bolt holding the (unhooked) front balance shaft pulley backed out and let the front balance shaft slide back into the motor, causing pressurized oil to feed right into the timing belt area.

So I figured I'd just swap heads and be good to go. I finally got around to pulling the engine apart this evening. Definately not the case:

One of the exhaust valves broke off and wedged itself upside down between two bent intake valves and pummeled a hole into the piston.

Guess I need new pistons at a minimum, might have eaten up the turbine wheel on the 16G also.

So, I'm finally getting around to working on the engine now. I finished stripping the engine block bare tonight, now I just need to figure out what machine shop its going to for a hot tank, bore, and hone.

And, due to lack of facilities of any kind, all engine surgery is being performed in my bedroom. wacko.gif

And I thought cleaning wheels in the bath tub was a little overboard unsure.gif

I had some Marvel Mystery oil laying around, used that to coat the cylinders and bearing surfaces. For anyone that hasn't smelled it before, it actually smells a bit like cotton candy biggthumpup.gif
