Anyone know of anyone that sells a lower intercooler pipe for a 1g, or anyone that would be willing to help me make one? I've got this nice turbo outlet elbow that I'd like to get on my car, but it won't fit inside the stock rubber hose. sad.gif

You should be able to put a coupler on the elbow and then use a reducer between the coupler and the stock hose. If not asainkid might still have some mandrel bent pipe for sale so that you could make one. I would be willing to lend a hand if you need it.

i used a coupler to use my old elbow but it moves the starting point of the IC pipe over and straight out and puts a funky bend in the IC pipe. i could not find a lower IC pipe from any comanies that worked with a stock SMIC. Dejon Tool has one but it only works with their modified sidemount. i trimmed back the wrapping of the stock IC pipe and that allowed it to stretch over my elbow. the only problem with that was a few months later i blew a hole in the side of the pipe running 18psi. someone on here posted a picture of a lower IC pipe that they made in my old thread of a similar nature. try searching for that. it was basically two elbows and a straight piece of exhaust pipe.

Here's what I did LICP

I cut off the elbow off the stock upper intercooler hose. Got a straight length of exhaust pipe. Then I search behind the counter at Advance for a radiator hose with the correct angle in it and cut an elbow off. Total cost was about $12

have you had any problems with it poping apart? that's my biggest fear right now. I've got a section of 2 1/2" pipe, but there arent' any lips on it to keep the coupler from sliding right off the end.

weld some tacks on the ends of the pipe works great biggthumpup.gif

I've run 18 psi and no problems so far.

Thinking about it, it probably won't come apart because the tube is contained between the two hoses. It would take alot to pop the tube out.

You could alway double clamp it to make sure.

if you can get them to me I can get it done for you.

no welder.

the IC pipes for my FMIC were made by a guy that does custom exhaust work. there is a machine that puts a buldge at the end of exhuast pipes for the ball and socket style exhaust flanges. he just used that on the end of all of my pipes and it is holding fine at 20psi with regular worm gear clamps.

i am sure you could take your length of pipes to midas or any exhaust shop and have them but a buldge in it.

or find a welder and run a bead around them.

Thanks guys, I just ordered some silicone couplers, as soon as I get them I'll see exactly what I need to do to make this work and let you know! biggthumpup.gif
