Here my Public Service Announcment on wearing helmets!
After running at the track last Friday night, with a helmet. I decide Sat to take my father in law's old dirt bike (80cc only!) out for some fun. I figure I don't need a helmet or anything. After a couple rounds around the yard, somehow I lay it down. Face first!!! They only reason I know I did it on my head is the road rash on my face...I don't remember a thing, including returning the bike to the shed and walking in the house!! The look on the wife's face and no memory led me to the hospital....
2 trips to the emergency room, Sat AND Sun for head and neck CT's and the doctors say I'm going to be fine.
I've got 5 huge bruises on my legs and a 3" cut in my hand. I've missed a week of work and still have to go to the dentist to repair 2-3 chipped teeth and a cracked molar!
Not fun and going to be very expensive. Just a little reminder to everyone that the seemingly innocent activities can bite hard! Watch those kids too.
Off the soapbox....

Wow... Sounds like you got hurt worse from that than when that Mustang plowed into your bike at 60mph!

I actually think that was Black93's incident Marcus...but all the same, good thing you didn't get hurt worse! Relatively speaking, it sounds like you came out pretty lucky. This is why I don't ride the two wheeled version!

I had a run in with a tree my first time on a dirt bike a couple weeks ago... although my injuries were far less, I'll testify that helmets are a good thing.

Yeah, it looks like "Black..." in your sig name is a curse!!
My kids no longer have an excuse for not wearing a helmet...unless they want to get hurt like dad did!

My son always argues with me about the helmet. I don't give in because I know what can happen.
I am sorry to hear that you wipped out man. And I hope that you will prevail from this accident.

It's been two months for me and I'm still not 100%...but that has nothing to do with the helmet that I was wearing. Maybe if they made one for my arse..
