I was checking out the new issue of SCC yesterday. While fliping through the pages I was suprised to find an article on Mitsubishi with the opening picture of a like-new 1G on the spread. You don't see that every day any more.

It is an article noting Mitsubishi's North America's 25th year. Nothing technical, but there were some nice words said about our beloved DSM's. biggthumpup.gif

Got it on my desk right now actually. I've only read the first page and the sub-article on the 4G63. So far it's pretty good.

I subscribe, but haven't received it yet. dry.gif

BTW, who won the USCC?

You don't want us to give that way do you? I can tell you the EVO and the Skyline didn't win, but I'll make you wait for the rest of the results. laugh.gif cool.gif

I really would have liked to see the FD RX7 with the LS1 do better than it did. It did make the most naturally aspirated HP on the dyno the SCC has ever seen though!!!

I guessed the winner when I read the previous month's magazine. Looks like guessed right. The money spent and mod list alone pretty much gave it away.

Well congratulations Mr. Poopypants!!! dry.gif Just kidding.

Seriously though, those cars are track bred from the factory. There would have to be something catastrophically wrong with it to make it lose. They're practically road course machines out of the box.

I can also see a problem with the way this event is going. It seems more and more that higher dollar vehicles are winning. Whether its spent in mods or initial costs, it's all about the Benjamins. I'd really like them to bring it home the next go 'round and put some restrictions on the initial costs of the vehicles featured. I don't think any of us could afford the Ferrari, the Viper, the Skyline, or many of the vehicles that have won this event. I think the only one that I could even touch would be the supercharged V6 MR2 that won awhile back. Lets be serious. This magazine is being read by kids and adults alike but very very few of them have that kind of cash. I think by limiting it from "CRX" money to about "brand new Mitsubishi EVO" money would make it tons more interesting for its current readers. I think the audience they aim for is highly intelligent people with moderately short attention spans that have an infatuation with driving fast cars but aren't rich by any means.

I believe last month they said something about how a prior specimen blew up on a previous event - so they DO blow up ... tongue.gif

Yeah, I remember that one from a few years back. It wasn't nearly as modded to the gills as this crazy Le Mans wannabe NSX.

I agree, Hcar. Like most things in this world with enough money anyone can win the USCC. They really should put a ceiling on how much can be or has been spent on the car and all the modifications, as cost is only one of their many deciding factors.
