Full Version: Which Parts Store Do You Prefer?
DSMCentral > Forum > General Talk

Just an oddball question, which auto parts store do you frequent? I like to see people's responses as compared to how fast some of these companies are growing. Currently, Advance is growing the fastest but Autozone still has the most stores with Advance just behind.

I work for Advance part-time so naturally, it's my first choice. biggthumpup.gif

Lets see some responses.

EDIT: I see there are two listings for Kragen. Oops! If you can, would one of the mods please edit the poll and take that last one out. Thanks!

I think a lot has to do with what parts are stocked or available overnight, the friendlyness of the staff, and the knowledge of the staff.

I usually go to the Advance in washington, and the only thing I can't get there is pensoil syncromesh. Only had one instance I can recall where they said they couldn't get a part that I think they really can.

I go to the Autozone on Prospect in Champaign. For the longest time, I went there because it was the closest parts shop to my house, but recently an Advance and O'Reilly's were built on the same block. I checked out both new places, but I ended up sticking with Autozone. Reason being, I like Autozone's staff more than the guys at O'Reilly's and Advance.

First it's NAPA because the quality of most of their parts has outlived those from most others regardless of their warranties.

Next I go to Advanced. But if I'm in a pinch or a hurry I go to the closest one for general stuff.

Then of corse - Mitsubishi and JNZ only for the T-belt and dealer only stuff.

These are pretty interesting numbers all things considered. Keep up the voting if you haven't already!

Aside from the big places, another really helpful spot is Globe Automotive on Harmon Hwy. They get parts the next day from their supplier in St. Louis, and the prices have been good from what little experience I've had with them. All I know is they're the only place that could get me fully loaded caliper sets for my car the next day, and I needed 'em BAD.

I usally go to NAPA for specific part (not oil, filters etc), they're the only one that have been able to cross referance Mitsu part numbers. Or at least make an effort to do so!

Autozone seems to just treat me right. Advance is closer to home (I'm in Peoria), but I'll drive the bit further for Autozone.

Otherwise, everything I buy comes from online.

OReilly's stocks BPR7ES's That always won me over

NAPA is way across town, the employees at teh near by advance are hit and miss, and the ones at the closest autozone are usually pretty good. and its the closest by far, so autozone, then advance, then F&F, then NAPA.

never been to the o'reillys cuz its way far away
