I saw Beowulf last night with the wife. The 3D is much better than in the past but still not perfect. There seems to be distinct levels to the 3D instead of a gradual change in the depth. But, like I said, much better than in the past. You won't come out of the theater with a headache.

The modeling of the characters varied too. Some where incredibly detailed and life-like while others were only so-so. If they can get everything as realistic as the life-life characters, then we could easily see movies without big names in them. If I were an up-and-coming actor, I would be a little concerned about having a job in the future.

I've said the same thing about the industry setting it's self up for not needing actors anymore. The current 'Big' actors will probably end up selling license to their persona until they get entirely away from known actors.

The points that you make about Beowolf are the factors that made it not so cool to me. Then again, I didn't even see it in 3D. Very inconsistent artwork/transitions, and still unrealistic, choppy movements for the most part. They've come a long way, but the real actors still have some time before they are not needed.
