My guess would be oil leaking from the seals into the turbos. You've put some hard miles on those 9b's.
Mike
But when you down shift and you have the spooling up, do you see it then or after your engine is in gear?
Mike
I dont think (no past experience here) that it would be the seals for the turbo becuase it only happens at low idle. If it were the seals, it would smoke even more downshifting! I dont know guy sorry!

It can still be the turbo seals. Its probably smoking when you get on it too, you just don't notice it because you're leaving the smoke behind you. Another possibility is oil from your breather line(s) could be seeping into your intake tract. Try disconnecting the breather line(s) from the intake and cap them off with a little breather filter. Winner's Circle has some.

It can also be you're valve stem seals. How many miles do you have on the car?

My Talon has the same problem. I fix it with stop leak stuff. Any real mechanic will tell you not to use this stuff, but I didn't think my Talon would last this long smile.gif Anyway, I've been using it for two years now and it has not gummed up my turbo. Then again, I don't use the recomended about too. I used it about once every 2 or 3 oil changes when my car starts to smoke really bad. Like it is now sad.gif

If you plan on keeping your car for the long run, I'd try and find the real fix, not a fix in a bottle. I might just have to go in and replace my valve stem seals. I like this no car payment stuff. I'm in no hurry to buy a new car!

Well, 80K miles is a little early for having a problem with your valve stems seals. My Galant is close to 100K and not having any problem yet.

Are you the original owner? It really does sound like the vss cause if it was your turbo(s), then it should blow oil when in boost.

Another thing it could be is too much oil getting in your intake from the valve cover if you still have the breather hose in place. If you do, then clean your ICs and put a breather filter on. Sometimes the PVC valve can get clogged too. I think it can cause more pressure under the valve cover pushing more oil out the breather hose. Might want to check that stuff first. If it's even still in place smile.gif

Yeah, but were the heads rebuilt when the short block was done or are thos the orignal heads. I would agree that those symptoms sound like vlave stem seals.

Although there are other benefits to adding the 13g's buddy!

not a rebuild, new heads, new engine. 5000 dollars for the motor

Brand new!? Common man, no body actually buys a new engine. Remanufactured maybe, but brand spankin new cast from the factory?! I hope they used some presious metal in that thing for five G's. That is if the original owner actually showed you the receipt and his mechanic didn't lie to him.

Just ribbin you dan!
