I am looking for a clutch for the car because with the 16g I don't think the stocker will hold up. I know the act2600 is the tried and true clutch for the awd cars. Is there anything else out there that has done really well. I would like something with decent street manners but can hold some awd launches at the strip. Also where is a good company to buy the clutch from.

Spec or ACT, both solid... CF does well for some domestic RWD applications, but I have only heard a couple of DSM folks even speak neutrally of them, never heard a truly good review. I've driven both Spec adn ACT, and had good success. ACT 2600 held everything my FWD 20g could put out at 26 psi, and I've put 15 passes on my Spec S3 with no slip whatsoever. Spec is in a mustang, on slicks, with 1.6-1.7s 60' times.

Years back they had an issue the the springs coming out of the friction plate...they fixed it but a lot of people got a bad tast in their mouth about that.

I've had an ACT 2600 for a while. Has put up with a lot of launches on the stutter box running in the 12's with 1.7-1.8 60'. It's a little stiff but you get used to it.

Only problem I had was a blown Mitsu TOB that caused the fingers to get chewed up.

I had a spec in my mustang and loved it but I don't know which one to run. I would love for the car to have 400 horse some day but I doubt it will happen. I also have seen some issues with the spec on tuners which kind of steered me away. I remember the act in my old talon and it was pretty stiff but I did get used to it. I figured in 6 years there would be some new canidates in the clutch market.

I have the spec stage 2+. it's not all that stiff and it graps like a SOB.

Having a hydraulic clutch helps tremendously. Effort-wise, a 2600 in a dsm is still easier to push than a stock Fox clutch. I wish the clutch in the stang were a lot easier.
