Anybody every install one on a DSM?

Is there a downside....snapped axle?

Why do you want line lock? Are you creeping forward at the line?

I don't know of anyone using it on a DSM, but that doesn't mean there's not someone out there.

Spy was telling me that he read a lot of the EVO guys are holding their E-brake at the line. If your hands aren't already full of gadgets at the line, this would be a much cheaper option.

I think Spy mentioned that the EVO guys are using the E-brake to allow them to slip the clutch a bit while revving or on the 2-step to help build boost for the launch. I don't know if my clutch would handle that kind of thing though.

Yeah mines creeping. I've been holding it by grabbing the brake pedal with the side of my shoe and matting the gas to get it on the stutter. But it's hard for me to get used to it and it's crewing up my reaction times.

I thought about the e-brake, but I don't thing my mind will work correctly when the light turns. Pushing the ebrake down to release and then finding the gearshift knob and pulling it to second in less than a couple of seconds....I'm getting old, I'll probably pull the ebrake back like it's going into second! wacko.gif

This is how I got mine to launch when I had it. It takes a little practice to get used to it though. My first trip down the track at the DSMCentral drag day I red lighted because the car rolled through the beams early. I hold the clutch in, bring up the RPM's (w/o a 2-step), leave the shifter in first, and hold the e-brake button IN the entire time. When it's time to go I slam the e-brake down and grab a handfull of second. Usually you can put the e-brake down and let out on the clutch at the same time and timing works itself out, just don't be late on the e-brake. It worked pretty well for me but I never tried to power-brake on the e-brake either. Hope that helps biggthumpup.gif

you could always fab up some kind of bracket to keep the button pushed in on the ebrake so that when you are on the line and you go all you have to is let go of the handle and grab your shifter for second...

I have heard that some drift guys who use the ebrake to start the slide do this...

Another advantage to holding the e-brake is you're actually pre-loading the drivetrain components.........which should in-turn equal less broken stuff....

My buddy with an integra had his 2-step wired in with his e-brake....

I didn't even get to GSXracer's post, and I was already thinking the same thing.

Just get a "Spy sized" condom. ph34r.gif

That will be tight enough to push in the release button. Then all you do is hold up and then let it spring back off your hand, which will already be next to the shifter, too.

Just remember to leave a resevoir at the tip. blink.gif

you guys are killing me tongue.gif

I like setting up the ebrake like the drifters do, spring loaded. But I still don't know if I'm corrdinated enough for that. I figure the line lock button would be on the steering wheel or in the shifter knob. Both places wouldn't require to move my hands.

haha... funny stuff I guess... what the hell happened to him this time anyway???

I thought of this from my old days when I was driving my old V6 sunbird and wanted to do big burn outs... I put a nickel over the button and duct taped it to the handle tight enough that it kept the button depressed... then all I had to do was grab the handle to do the burn out and let it go to creep forward... no more fighting the ebrake handle.

too bad it wasn't an Auto... you could just install a trans brake like the rear drive guys and be all good. those things are cool, they lock 1st and reverse together to prevent it from rolling when you load it up and it launches you super hard when you disengage it.

If you do the line lock you may be able to wire an arming switch and then a release button in the clutch switch to totally eliminate extra hand movements.

hmmmm...now that's and interesting idea Kicks!
