I have a 1g and just recently put a maf/maft on it. I have a big 16g with 510 injectors supra fuel pump and the rewire kit for the fuel pump. I still have the stock intercooler. I am using a palm m100 with the mmcd for logging. I have never done any tuning before. I have the maft set at 4 on aux 4 on base 1 on idle 1 on mid and 1 on wot. On the logger im seeing sometimes 43 counts of knock. It is usually at low rpm. I just did a log and got 28 counts of knock at 1875 rpm. The tps is at 28.5% tima is at 16 o2r is at .64 v the fto2 is at 100% and my mafs is at 232 hz. It seems like it happens when i first star to get into the throttle. Anotherone i got is at 6968 rpm with no knock tps is 58.2% tima is 19 fto2 is at 100% mafs is at 1599hz. Im not sure of boost but i have seen it over 20 psi. Im not sure what i need to do with the maft to get rid of the knock. Can anyone help out with the tuning of this thing ? thanks

your O2 is .64v under load?? That's real lean, o2's should be .8 or above under load (WOT). Is the o2's oscillating properly?

I would turn down the boost first and richen up the mAFT, especially at WOT. I'm not too familiar with mmcd but what are are your fuel trim (lo, med, high) running at?

Thats the other thing they never move constantly at 100% shouldnt they fluctuate
What should the ft02 be at ? Its the only one that moves

You want your low med and high trims to stay as close to 100 as you can. Usually between 100 and 110 is where you end up. Your O2 trim will normally bounce between 70 and 130 while driving normally. It starts to swing once the O2 sensor is up to temp and your O2 voltage will swing up and down with it.

As for your knock... That knock is one of two things. Phantom knock, which would be my first guess, or you need to turn up your mid knob and throw some fuel at it. I'm guessing with a big16g that you are just starting to build boost around 2000. That's an easy place for the knock to start. Thankfully you aren't running much load there and those 43 counts can't really hurt you.

Have you driven the car much? It takes a while of driven to get the trims to move. At least 15min of driving to get anything to move.

Yea i have been messing with this for about 2 weeks now and i drive the to work every day. Is there anyone in the peoria area that i could meet up with and take a ride and maybe get a little advice ? Im willing to pay. Thanks

Here's what I do...
Start everything full rich then continue to lean out the settings until you burn a valve or pop a hole in a piston. Then all you have to do is replace the engine and turn your settings one notch richer and you are golden! biggthumpup.gif

That sounds like Kicks...

26 counts of knock!!
-Still have a few more to go!
eclaser353
I already did that before i got the maft with a t-25.

She's mean when she's lean! biggrin.gif laugh.gif

have you gotten anywhere wth the tune?
eclaser353
Im not sure. One time i had it pulling like a mother in wot, but it seemed like it was loading up in the mid. Icant tell if it is loaded or its fuel cut. It kinda like sputters. The last couple of times i ran the logger i was down to 11 counts of knock, but im not sure its real or not cuz i get it during normal cruise. I never knew this car could pull like it did.
spyonu2007
Keep in mind, when they feel the best, is generally about 10 second before it all turns to shit. Best bet.. when its pulling like a freight train and no knocking, turn down the boost a click or two anyway.
black92_tsi_awd
fuel cut feels like you're going to get thrown through the windshield...

Have your long term trims moved off 100% yet?
eclaser353
No FTRL 100% FTRM 100% FTRH 100% they always stay on 100 never move at all. The FT02 is alway moving.
black92_tsi_awd
something's not rght...your trims should be moving.

Sounds like a bad O2 sensor to me.
eclaser353
Thats what i was thinking so i bought a new one and nothing changed. I changed the car from a 90 to a 91-94. I changed out ecu, coil, cass, and throttle body. Do you think that might have something to do with it ?
natedogg
When I put my '92 engine in my '90 car I had to change the wiring harness to a '92 to get it to run right.
eclaser353
Yea i did all that the car runs alot better since the swap mainly because of the throttle body
