Man, this site has made some real solid relationships over the years. Lots of good folks on here, but the site activity has really took a nose dive.
I wonder if there is enough interest to keep it going?
So.. this is a post, just to ask that question.
Where should DSMcentrals direction go? Should it stay on, as an archieve of our lives, or should she be put out to pasture like most of the dsm's these days?
I don't know.
I check the site, daily. Nothing new, nothing new...
Thoughts?

I too, will be interested to hear the feelings of our long time members and friends on this subject.

I check the site a couple times a day..Looking for something to read.
I wish I had a decent project build to be posting about..

I check every day too. Just haven't had the time (kids sports) or money (economy sucks) to get much done on the car and post up.

I check the site daily. Not a whole lot of activity. It would be a shame to kill it, but I understand there are responsibilities that go along with site ownership. Maybe we just use the old yahoo groups like we did back in the day?

I enjoy the site and the info on here, even if there isn't much activity. Things go in spurts with projects and such. Even if there isn't daily stuff being posted, there's at least something every week. Would be a shame, after the work done to upgrade the site, to see it go away.
If it's mindless content you want, I'd be happy to help, sit at a computer all day

I know I enjoy the forum a lot, but am not in a financial situation that can allow me to support it in that way. If the owner was ever to sell it, is there anyone here that would be interested in taking over the torch and running with it?

i have been slacking on checking the site lately.. The economy sucks and no body can afford to do nething anymore and I will absolutely hate to see the site go down but totally understand financial situations as i have my own. I have two project cars that i have no funding to put into at the time being and its suckin bad but its like that newer country song "Sounds like life to me".... you get older and things get harder...
We can always all join other forums to keep in touch:
dsmtalk
centralstreetscene
I have noticed the slow down in posting over the last few years and am forced to say that i will agree to put DSMCENTRAL.COM in the past to help you guys save a little cash. Although i think we should run a POLL to see how many members would maybe be willing to donate a little bit.
$0
$5
$10
$20
$30
those should be the choices...

I know Id chip in.
How much $$ does it take to keep a site like this going?

Honestly, money is not the issue. The sad part is watching what used to be such a living, vibrant forum fall so low on activity and content. It's hard for me to put any extra effort into it at this level. I may be interested in passing the torch on if some one has the energy and ideas to keep the place alive and save our history/archives.

I wasn't insinuating that money was the problem, but if someone is apt at taking over the reins, as it were. An associated cost may be the deciding factor for the perspective buyer.

Passing on to others would be cool, but unfortunately the engine platform is now officially defunct. It will be hard to introduce enthusiasts to a DSM. WRXs are continuing to be a cheaper platform with boost and AWD; and they have a 2 as the first number in its model year.
I haven't been checking as often, but I am regionally obsolete as it is. I still believe the tech the elders on this board have shared is far more superior than 95% of other sites. I would love to see it to continue on, but in what capacity is the question.

What I'd miss is the ability to keep tabs on everybody more than car content nowadays. Cars just aren't nearly as important to me as they used to be, but I do value the friendships that I've made on the site and it would make keeping in touch that much more difficult.
I don't do any of the minutia-based socialmedia stuff, so this is one of a small number of channels that I keep open with the outside world.
I've been meaning to do a post about my car just to talk about something car-related again but haven't found the time to really do it yet. ...I guess I'm hoping that nobody equates lack of participation as apathy.

Yeah! Pay it off!
Srsly though, after that just the stuff needed to properly maintain and keep the car in excellent condition. Wishlist would probably consist of a very nice moton or ohlins suspension, HRE wheels, litronic factory light upgrade, RS3 front bumper fascia, ICE, recaro seats, short shift kit, fabtech exhaust, supercharger and a chip. Could get it up to about 400whp, but it would take some serious $$$.

I used to love this forum...unfortunatly, I don't like working on cars much, which didn't lend well to owning DSM's. Unfortunatly, I've owned about 6 of them!
I moved to St. Louis and sold my Talon a couple years ago though, and fell off the face of the earth. However (unfortunatly) I'll be moving back to Bloomington soon. Damn job transfers, promotions, then office closings!

Yeah it has been. I'll be honest, I bought a Maxima, sold my Talon, moved to St. Louis, then tried to leave the car scene. Way too much BS and drama in Bloomington for my tastes, and I made enough mistakes and enemies in my late teens / early twenties to not want to go back.
Then I moved to STL...and got a craving for a sports car again...I wanted to buy a 350Z or G35 while I was here, but didn't because I don't have room for Amanda's car, a DD, and a sports car, and even with snow tires you can't get around very well on all the ice we get here in a RWD.
But moving back to snowy and flat Illinois...who knows?
